Indian Dinner

I haven't done an Indian dinner yet for this group, so this is past due.  I don't have the menu completely figured out yet, but here's a general idea:

Pakoras or samosas (or both)
Curried goat (it might end up as beef if I can't find goat)
Some sort of dal
A chicken curry (a korma or butter chicken, something rich) or a vindaloo (recent craving)
A vegetable dish TBD
Lots of freshly made naan

With making the naan and the pakoras I'd appreciate it if one or two people would volunteer to show up early and help out.

Now this is a repeat of the one that I had to cancel last year, so I'm going to go ahead and add the people who had responded yes, and you're on the list if you're still available and want to join us.

I generally don't provide alcohol for these events, and I don't know much about wine, but I do know my beer. If you want to bring something to drink I would strongly suggest some form of pale ale, especially an IPA. The British did name it after the beer they made specifically for the voyage to India after all.

Thanks for the tip. I’m normally not a beer drinker, but do like it with Indian food. I usually drink a Kingfisher or Cobra with Indian cuisine, but as they didn’t carry either one at Meijer (where I needed to pick up additional groceries), I bought an IPA pale ale (India Pale Ale from Arcadia). Haven’t tried it before, so this will be somewhat of an experimental culinary pairing. Looking forward to this dinner.

    A menu update:

Pakoras (onion, sweet potato, zucchini, cauliflower) with chutney and raita
    Creamy urad dal
    Butter chicken
    Curried goat
    Green beans
Big stacks of naan and garlic naan
    Basmati rice

If you're one of the people who had signed up for the original event I also included your +1 (if any), so they're welcome too, but please change the number if you're not bringing anyone.
