The April tasting is going to involve two of my favorite things. Beer. Mmm. And pizza. Double mmm. Who can say no to that? Especially now that the sun is starting to shine and by then the snow has (hopefully) melted! I am internally ecstatic. Ok. Externally too :)
Step one of the plan is to meet first at 1pm on Saturday at the Bad Brewery in Mason, MI (check out http://badbrewing.com/).
This is a great local brewery that makes a wide variety of their own beers, ranging from light pilsners and wheat beers, to the heavier IPAs and stouts. For the paltry sum of $7, you will get a tour of the brewery, an overview of all the delectable beers on tap, as well as your own customized flight of four 4oz samples to taste. This will give you the most excellent opportunity to decide which beers you want to buy afterwards as you soak up the cool ambiance and the second part of the afternoon – pizza!
Since the Bad Brewery does not have a kitchen, we will have pizza and bread-sticks delivered from Papa Mo’s Pizza to share as we enjoy our flights and (perhaps?) order additional pints of brewed goodness. To keep things simple, we will limit the pizza options to some basic types (cheese, cheese & pepperoni, *maybe* a Hawaiian pizza??). I will get your pizza preference on your arrival as well as CASH from you so that I can order and get the pizza delivered ASAP after the tour. I don’t envision the pizza option costing more than $5-$8 per person - maybe a bit less.
PLEASE INDICATE IN YOUR RSVP IF YOU WANT TO HAVE PIZZA.
NOTE #1: The $7 price is for a flight of four beer samples with an alcohol content of less than 8%. Beers with an alcohol content of 8% or greater can be added for an additional $0.75/sample.
NOTE #2: Chipping in for (and eating) pizza is NOT a requirement to attend this event. You are welcome to just come for the beer flight and hang out. However, I hope that you will be up for both options!
Let's enjoy the zenith of spring with pizza and beer -- two inventions that separate us folks from those *without* opposable thumbs!
