On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, let's go to the St. Louis Zoo for the day and eat dinner that evening. The zoo's animals are much more active in cooler weather.
We will discuss car pooling possibilities from Jefferson City (and/or Kingdom City, for those coming from Columbia) when we know who is going. You can get lunch at the zoo or consider packing a lunch.
The Plan will be to leave Jefferson City at 8:45 am. Hopefully we will get to the zoo around 11:30 and we'll meet at the SOUTH entrance (that's the main entrance). For a map of the zoo grounds see: http://www.stlzoo.org/visit/thingstoseeanddo/ We will plan to stay until 05:00 pm and then discuss where to go for dinner. Our counterparts in St. Louis (the St. Louis Singles Christian Adventure Group) have a game night that evening which we could add to our schedule for some additional fun.
The zoo has many activities to offer:
River's Edge: Take a journey along a mythical waterway through four continents to discover how wildlife, plants and people interact. River's Edge is the Saint Louis Zoo's first immersion exhibit -- a lushly planted naturalistic environment showcasing multiple species from around the world.
The Wild: From the sub-Antarctic to tropical rainforests, animals have made some pretty amazing adaptations. See some of the hardy species that climb, swim and swing through some of the seemingly inhospitable places on the planet. AND
Red Rocks: At Red Rocks, you’ll view some of the world’s most powerful predators living near some of the world’s most graceful prey. Lions, tigers, zebra and giraffes all share the natural rocky boulders and outcroppings as their territory.
These are just some of the things we can see and do.
