7. Be Considerate of Other Visitors

WHAT TO BRING AND WEAR: When the trip begins before noon, bring enough food and liquid for a full day's outing. Never hike on an empty stomach. It is a good idea to bring something to drink even on short hikes. Wear sensible clothing and sturdy shoes. Hiking boots are recommended on mountain hikes. Dress in layers for cold or wet weather. Always bring rain jacket/hat.

RAINGEAR (Light Snow): Poncho or shell jacket, hat, waterproof shoes, waterproof pants with vents (may be thin ski pants), layers for warmth, *Water resistant/repellant not the same as water "proof."

HIKING SHOES/BOOTS: If you're not sure what shoes to get, try the Salomon brand. They have molded EVA midsole. And some have good traction. However, you may still want a different shoe liner. Amazon.com, Salomon Hiking Shoes

UPDATES: You should check for updates before any event. Also check the "About" and "Files" sections of the site. If you have questions or concerns, please email me.

RULES: Hikes are informal, but always follow the leader. Pay attention to any instructions he or she gives before or during the hike. Do not start without the designated hike leader/coordinator. Pets are not allowed. Hiking bodies do not digest large snacks. Large snacks are for after the hike or 30 minutes before the hike. Yield to other hikers if it's possible: Our first priority is safety.

INDOOR CLIMBING IS REAL CLIMBING: One can get minor injuries. Be considerate. Use your best belaying techniques. Check each others harnesses. Go over the belaying commands beforehand. We would use double belaying so that more people can practice good belaying technique. Only an instructor can "teach" climbing. Bring a change of clothing to wear home (a top at least).

COMMUNITY YOGA: This would be variations of the Sun and Moon Salutations to increase flexibility over time, unless we have a license facility. Yoga should be a relaxing workout. Go at your own pace. Do only what you can, stop when you need to. Yoga leaders or instructors should not adjust participant manually, especially the torso (shoulder, middle, hip). Always, do a forward bend after a Yoga routine.

GUEST: Members are responsible for informing their guest.

NOTICE: YOU HIKE, CLIMB, YOGA AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AND MUST ASSUME ALL RISKS AND LIABILITIES ON ALL OUTINGS WITH THIS GROUP. ITS COORDINATERS, LEADERS, ASSISTANTS, AND REPRESENTATIVES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INJURIES, LOSS, OR DAMAGE TO PERSONS AND/OR PROPERTIES, DIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL, ARISING OUT OF ANY TRIP AND/OR ACTIVITY OF THE MIDATLANTIC CLIMBERS & HIKERS, OR HIKING & MEETUP AFFILIATES. TRIP LEADERS AND COORDINATORS SHOULD NOT BE RELIED UPON TO HAVE ANY SPECIAL SKILLS OR TRAINING. I DO NOT HAVE ANY SPECIAL SKILL OR TRAINING. A RESCUE CAN BE CALLED WHEN NEEDED. NO ONE SHOULD BE LEFT IN THE WOODS.
OF COURSE, EACH FACILITY WILL HAVE THEIR OWN REGULATIONS OR WAIVERS.
