Sunday June 22nd Matawan to Sandy Hook and Back 40+ Miles

Wanted to do this last year but never got around to it. Should be a fairly easy ride. Following the Henry Hudson Trail as far as we can and then taking side streets to Sandy Hook the rest of the way. We can stop and hang for a bit before heading back. Easy pace 14 MPH or so. Here's what I mapped:

I'm not going to make it, too far for me today. Did 30 yesterday and my knees are feeling it.

Am a beginner bout want to start somewhere and also to get out and meet new people!

This may not be the ride for you. 40 miles even at a slower pace will be difficult for a beginner. I would suggest starting at one of the 20 mile henry Hudson rides that Pras leads.

Yeah agreed with Adam, 40 miles is quiet a lot especially with some hills in the mix.

When Henry Hudson ends we can actually go rt36. Did this in November, a great workout and some pretty good climbs. But not sure if people are comfortable with riding on such roads.

Mr. Miller I agree rt36 is usually very busy.

I ride down there a lot and can provide a on and off road ride because the trails just super sucks for road bikes which is what most of you should bring for such long rides. Also, there are ways to skip route 36.
