Let's Meet at the Museum of Fine Arts and conclude at the Hotel ZaZa Bar
So, when I actually read the 'We're About' section of this Meetup, I was shocked -- shocked I say -- to learn that we're actually about museums and art and not just all about drinking! Go figure...
So, in the interest of expanding our horizons, let's meetup at the Museum of Fine Arts to take in an exhibit. Now technically, this is in the Museum District, but in my book it's close enough to Montrose to still count within the physical confines of the group.
Thursdays are always free at the MFA and the doors stay open until 9 pm. The current exhibit runs through Feb 12 and features 17th Century Dutch and Flemish Paintings. It's billed as one of the world's finest private collections featuring works by Rembrandt -- isn't that now a Toothpaste?! -- Frans Hals, Gerrit Dou, Jan Steen and a bunch of other artists I've never heard of...
Actually, let's meet up and check out some priceless works of art and then go do what we do best - drink! After the exhibit at 9 pm, let's make a V-line across the street to the Hotel ZaZa Bar and take in some spirits and discuss the art with which we just partaked. Hotel ZaZa is one of my favorite hotel bars with awesome ambience and a variety of wonderful drinks.

Wow, I could have never imagined we'd have this many RSVPs for a Museum event on a Thursday! What I would ask everyone is that if you know you can not make it Thur, please update your RSVP to a no. I do want to get as accurate head count as I can. thanks!

An email was sent to everyone who is signed up for the event, giving everyone full details. My cell phone number is 832-275-3205. I will be standing outside the main MFA entrance facing Bissonnet across from First Presbyterian Church from 6:45 to 7:15 pm. After that, it may be very difficult to reach me, though I will still check texts from time to time.

Final RSVP max for MFA: 75
Final RSVP max for Hotel ZaZa: 35We'll see how many people we have after the Museum that are going on for drinks. We'll be sitting in the far back left section of the ZaZa Bar. Don't know if they'll be able to sit us all. Preference given to those who came out to the Museum event. Only fair.

Ok, the final RSVP we were able to get for the ZaZa is 30 which is the largest group they can fill and many of those will be asked to stand. This was always intended as a MUSEUM event foremost and then we'd walk over for a drink. I have been besieged with emails and texts asking how to find the group after the Museum exhibit. We're leaving the museum at 9. If you go directly to ZaZa, hopefully we have a spot left. Ok, pardon all the comments, hope everyone has a great time, c u at the Museum!

The Hotel ZaZa was an awesome ending to the evening. The group was fantastically diverse and I hope to see everyone I met last Thursday again at a future event!

This was the most delightful Meet Up Including Non-Meet up meet ups! It was an Excellent Idea to mix a little culture with a little relaxation fun, and not at last It did attracted the best crowd I ever seen.
