Midtown Readers is a book club for women of all ages who seek friendships and share a love of reading a wide range of books. Jesa and Rachel have been the organizers since August, and really look forward to continuing the intention of Midtown Readers. We'd like the book club to grow into a social group that meets regularly to discuss the books we are reading while facilitating friendships and community. If you are looking for other spirited women to have intelligent discussions with, look no further! This is a very friendly group, and new members are always welcome (we do sometimes stray outside the book--just a warning!).
We meet monthly, and read books selected by our members. At the meeting, we discuss future book selections to add to our list and vote on a book and meeting location for the following month. Sometimes we post a poll to select a book, with suggestions from previous meetings and comments on the page. Please feel free to suggest a book (ideally under 450 pages, available in paperback and/or electronically). Also, if you aren't able to finish the book, and don't mind spoilers, come anyway!
Currently, we meet the 2nd Thursday of each month at a coffee shop, winery, or private residence in Midtown, or fairly close to midtown. If anyone has a suggestion for a location (preferably not too loud with ample seating), or would even like to host, feel free to post in the comments of that event.
We also have a movie night at a member's house on the 4th Thursday, where we watch a documentary (but not strictly), drink wine and eat snacks while watching and discussing the movie. This is generally on the third Thursday of the month, unless our host needs to make a change.
Rachel has also recently added a knitting/craft night on the 3rd Thursday at Tupelo.
