Midtown Readers is a book club for women of all ages who seek friendships and share a love of reading a wide range of books. Jesa and Rachel have been the organizers since August of 2013 and became the co-organizers with the intention of creating friendships, community and a space for intelligent, thoughtful discussion. Over the past year or so, Midtown Readers has grown into a social group that meets three times a month to discuss books, watch documentaries, and knit/crochet. If you are looking for other spirited women to have intelligent discussions with, look no further! This is a very friendly group, and new members are always welcome (we do sometimes stray outside the book--just a warning!).
The Midtown Readers book club meets monthly, and we read books selected by our members. Usually we post a poll to select a book, with suggestions from previous meetings and comments on the page. Please feel free to suggest a book (ideally under 450 pages, available in paperback and/or electronically). Also, if you aren't able to finish the book, and don't mind spoilers, come anyway!
Currently, we meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month at a coffee shop, winery, or private residence in Midtown, or fairly close to midtown. If anyone has a suggestion for a location (preferably not too loud with ample seating), or would even like to host, feel free to post in the comments of that event.
Rachel also hosts a knitting/craft night on the 3rd Wednesday at Tupelo. All are welcome regardless of knitting/crocheting experience.
We also have a movie night at a member's house on the 4th Wednesday, where we watch a documentary (but not strictly), drink wine and eat snacks while watching and discussing the movie. This is generally on the third Thursday of the month, unless our host needs to make a change.
