Let's Cross the Rocky Mountains! It can't be that hard, right?

I've always thought it would be really fun to re-trace the route traveled by Alferd Packer, notorious cannibal and failed mountain guide, and what better time to do it than before the snow melts and the winter storms subside?

We can meet at the Mountaineers (ask inside if you can't find our group), and then carpool to Utah, where we will begin our trek. I think we pretty much head east, and then bend slightly north from there. After a couple weeks' worth of walking, I'm sure we'll end up at our final destination of Breckenridge, Colorado. What could possibly go wrong?

And also I think we should then go to the University of Colorado-Boulder's campus and have a celebratory meal at the Packer Grill, named for this illustrious man. It's not that much farther west. I mean, east.

This will be schpadoinkle! I hope you can join me. :)

Gear List:
10 essentials, but you probably don't need to bring extra food. Or a map. I think we'll be fine.

Liability Information:
If anything bad happens, I will flee to Wyoming and will probably not get convicted anyway, so don't bother to sue me.

Be sure to pack enough provision, it is awkward to have to eat your crew :-)

But they don't taste like chocolate do they? Maybe if they have some in their pockets??

Hey Jenni, I have a bone to pick with you. I hear you didn't show up for your hike. 2 more no-shows and you will be banished from this Meetup group and left to wander the slopes of Crazy Woman Peak in the Bighorns of Wyoming for the rest of your life. Just a warning!

Finally, a trip I could really sink my teeth into. I am still savoring some of the... Moments.

I can't come on this trip either. I now only have 9 of the 10 Essential toe nails. I'd leave bloody toe prints in the snow and the wolves would surely track us down.

That means more meat though! Wolves would be a good side-dish... Quit making excuses ;)

Been there, done that! Alferd was my great-great-great second cousin twice removed on my wife's side. I'm having a nice rare juicy steak tonight.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
