Reminder: Midwest ScrumMaster COP Meetup coming up this Wednesday, January 9th at 10:00 AM

The next session in our Midwest ScrumMaster COP series is taking place this Wednesday at Nokia's offices, located conveniently in the Chicago Loop - 425 West Randolph St. (Cab drivers will know it as the 'Boeing Building')

Some quick logistical details to keep in mind:

The Boeing Building is considered a 'high value target' so security is taken seriously. This means we will have to submit your name to building security prior to you arriving as a visitor. Once you arrive, security will check your state-issued ID before admitting you into the building.

This may sound like a huge hassle, but it's not really that big of a deal. Just keep a few things in mind:

  • Do bring your official ID. Building security will not admit you without proper identification.
  • Arrive a few minutes early - it will take security a few minutes to process your information.
  • Nokia representatives will be ready to guide you to our Learning Annex once you're ready to enter the building. Since we don't want to leave anyone hanging - please let us know if you don't plan to attend as we will wait for you. (This notice is only going out to people indicating they will attend).

That's it - as long as you bring your ID and arrive a few minutes early (~10 mins), everything should be smooth and we'll be ready to start on time.

We're excited to have you and will be providing some morning snacks and coffee to get those creative juices flowing.

As we did last time, we'll be following an Open Space format. If you have particular topics you'd like to cover, please let me know and we'll decide as a group what we'll focus on. Some initial suggested topics follow below:

  • How can the ScrumMaster add value to the organization beyond the team? Let's explore concrete patterns and success stories that have demonstrated proven results to the enterprise.

  • ScrumMaster career paths. What are organizations doing to support and recognize career growth and development of ScrumMasters? And how are they rewarding them? (Taboo topics like compensation and reward structures may come up!)
  • Common ScrumMaster Anti-patterns: what are some of the mistakes organizations conduct regarding ScrumMasters and how can they alleviate them?

I'm very much looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday next week - we have a vibrant ScrumMaster community in Chicago and I can't wait to share, learn and grow with you.

Have a great weekend!
