SAVE THE DATE: National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day event

Milwaukee Fibromyalgia Connections is passionate about raising awareness in our community, contributing in any way we can to further research, and supporting other people just like us who struggle with this illness every day.

May 12th is National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, and we want to continue our commitment to this cause by hosting a Fibromyalgia Awareness and Benefit Night at our friendly community Fuddruckers restaurant. Here's how it works: At any time during the day or night of Monday May 12th, you and your friends and family go to Fuddruckers, let them know that you're there for the "Benefit Night for Fibromyalgia", and eat. That's it! This is not a request for you to donate; rather, Fuddruckers is sponsoring our cause by donating 20% of your bill to The Advocates for Fibromyalgia Funding, Treatment, Education, and Research (AFFTER). I've carefully selected AFFTER, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, not only because of their incredible contribution to the Fibro community, but also because well over 90% of contributions go directly to their mission rather than administration costs. More specifically, our donated funds will go directly toward continued research into Fibromyalgia! There have been recent strides in research but so much is still unknown and misunderstood, making it so difficult to treat, much less cure. We have so far to go.

Milwaukee Fibromyalgia Connections’ members and their guests will be at Fuddruckers in Brookfield at 6:00pm for dinner. The purple ribbon represents Fibro Awareness, so we will be wearing purple to show our support and to make us easier to spot. You are more than welcome to join us at that time, but remember the benefit will run all day long so you can go at any time that is convenient for you! All you have to do is go out to eat, just like you might any other time. Who knew supporting research could be so easy and delicious?!

If you cannot make it to the restaurant that day but would still like to contribute, you can do so here by PayPal, or by contacting organizer Holly Foti directly at[masked] or [masked].

Your support would mean the world to me, and to the 5 million Fibromyalgia patients in America and millions more worldwide who are hoping for a cure for this debilitating disease.

Hope to see you there!

Very disappointed by lack of attendance vs. the # of "yes" RSVPs we received, although I know the severe weather is likely to blame. Wish RSVPs had been updated so that I would've known to not bring so much. Still had a great time! Special thanks to members Cyndi and Sarah, and to all non-member attendees for your support!

    Hello Everyone,
I would like to get involved with the youth sailing program in Oconomowoc and there is a meeting tomorrow night at 7:00. Therefore we will be arriving early (around 5:30) and need to leave at 6:30. Holly will we have a section that is dedicated to our group? If not I could purchase some purple balloons and put them on a group of tables so we all know where to meet. Let me know if you would like me to do this. Cyndi

Hi Cyndi! Thank you so much for the offer. The restaurant didn't exactly exactly commit to what space we will have. They said probably the back room but not sure if that is partially or completely separate from the regular dining room. I intend to go at lunch today (hey, why not "donate" twice today!) and will take a look myself. If you would like to bring purple balloons that would be wonderful. If the room is separate, we will put them around the door to draw attention, and if it's open to the regular dining room we will put them on the tables. Thank you so much for the offer.

    Hi Holly,
I'm not sure I will be able to meet the group at Fudrucker's now that the time has changed to 11:00. I will try to be there, but if I do not make it my husband and I are planning to go for supper and I will be sure to mention that we are part of the Benefit for Fibromyalgia.

Delores, It doesn't look like the time has changed for when the members are planning on getting together. It's still 6pm. It's just that the business will begin donating with anyone coming, starting at 11am.

Terri is right. Delores, the event runs all day long but our group will be meeting for dinner together at 6:00pm.

We've already received $50 in donations for this cause! How exciting!

I sent out an invite email to all of our members (as well as my personal friends/family/acquaintances) that includes all of the event details and the flyer the restaurant provided for us. PLEASE forward that email to your friends and family and spread the word. Or you could print the flyer from the email and hand that to people. Let's get as many people to eat at Fuddruckers that day as possible! Be sure to remind them that they can go ANY TIME that day. All they have to do is tell the cashier that they are there for the Benefit for Fibromyalgia. This is such a small thing we can do to make a big difference.

If you did not receive the email from me today, give me your email address and I will send it to you. :)
