Student Video Cirque

MCA-I Student Video Cirque ...It's FUN and great for networking.  MCA-I Milwaukee and UWM are hosting this year's student video cirque. This year we had 30 entries for four area colleges. At least 20 students will show 2 minutes of their best work to members of Milwaukee's professional video community.  More if we have time.

5:00 - 6:00 - Networking / social hour
6:00 - 6:10 - Announcements and introduce all panelists
6:10 - 8:30 - Presentations, Critiques & Awards

Entry is closed. The Deadline was March 26th.

    Announcing the Winners (Drum Roll)
    1st Prize:
Miranda Morn from MATC for "My Escape"
A beautifully written, shot and edited story of a young woman escaping from domestic turmoil through cosmetic make-up

    2nd Prize:
Adam Lilley from MATC for "Permanent Brand Permanent Markers"
A skillfully written and acted parody-infomercial for an imaginary product.

    3rd Prize:
Kirsten Stuck from UWM for "'Tis the Season"
A brilliant animated short using Christmas card images that had the audience in stitches with its inventive overlay of images and visual humor.

There were SO many really good pieces, it really made it hard for the judges. Worse yet, with so many entries, we did not even get to see all of them.

    Thanks to all who participated.

Judging the students work was a good experience for all, I think.
We should consider collecting email addresses of all students involved in this year's event and then sending the participants formal invitations to become active in our MCAI chapter. (Is there a student/associate membership level available?)
