Which topics do you enjoy reading about and discussing the most?

I'm a big fan of history and biography. I also like reading about science and some philosophy (not too much, it's pretty deep).

What are some of your favorite books (or authors)?

I really liked Guns, Germs and Steel. I also loved Edmund Morris's first volume of his Theodore Roosevelt trilogy. I've read all three, but the first book really brought TR to life. My favorite non-fiction author is probably Robert Kaplan.

Name 2 or 3 non-fiction books you would like to discuss with the group.

Probably that first TR biography. I just read Charles Murray, Coming Apart. It's pretty controversial (he's pretty controversial), but he makes some points that probably need to be discussed.

Why would you like to join this particular group?

I read a lot, but I've never been in a book club before, and I rarely discuss my reading with anyone. It would be good to hear what other people have to say about the books that I've read. It also would hopefully be a good place to get to know people in my new city.

Introduction

I read all different types of non-fiction and always have a pile of library books on the table.
