Tell Aaron What To Do: Interactive Group Programming

Food and Drink will be provided! (see bottom) The combined knowledge of the Milwaukee PHP Users Group is extraordinary.  In this live-coding session, its your turn to participate and drive the presentation.  Come Tuesday the 14th and join Aaron Saray as he presents a few common programming tasks to the group and waits for your input on how to solve them.  Each member who wishes to participate can weigh in on the next step of the process - and help drive the round-robin style of group programming.  The goal is to tell Aaron exactly how to code in a reusable and secure fashion - all while he types it LIVE.

Refreshments! This month Jerry Broitzman of Aquent will be providing Jimmy John's sandwiches, chips and drinks. Make sure to RSVP early to ensure there's plenty for all!

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Glad this was a good experiment. I'll definitely be available to do it again - with both a more basic example and an advanced example.

Good Meetup! It was fun to do a little "group programming". It was a nice interactive change. I certainly think this could be a nice format for a meeting from time to time.

Excellent session. A lot of it was very new to me, but I could follow the logic. Now to get better acquainted with the usages.

Sounds like a good session, but another commitment came up, so I can't make it this month. See you next time!

New guy here. What about building an "intranet" portal to implement for a small business who wants to restrict access to a group of people who log-in and are able to send each other messages, or have some sort of message/discussion board?

Hi - and thanks for the comment! I'm sorry if the description isn't that thorough. What will be happening is I will present two challenges, and the group will tell me what to do - that is to say, everyone will help program the solution by telling me - and I will type it. We'll be using just plain PHP - and see what our collective mind comes up with as a solution. :) Hope to see you there!

Simon says, "Aaron, build a simple site based on CakePHP."

hah clint! Its not gonna work exactly like that. I'm aiming at pure, simple solutions in just PHP. I will present a few challenges, and split up the solutions between each person who wants to participate.

I love telling Aaron what to do. It's getting him to listen that should be the interesting part.
