Where Do I Start?

This month, Arlen Walker is going to take us into the dark world of legacy code...

You've been handed a big ball of code written by other people of indeterminate skill and knowledge. You're now responsible for it. How do you determine where you start? Are there any tools that can help you? By the end of this MKEPUG session, you'll not only know what "Cyclomatic Complexity" means, you'll be able to calculate it and make an informed decision for yourself as to how much (or even whether) you should care about it.

Sound like fun?

Arlen, a great presentation! The content as fantastic, the flow was great and the talk was pretty entertaining! Well done. Let us know when you post your slides. I took a ton of notes but I doubt I could read my own writing as I was scribbling pretty fast. Also, there was a lot of good extra info in terms of recommend books and what not. Could you list a few? I'd like to look into them.

I ran pdepend for the latest Git of Drupal 8. I did one smart thing by ignoring the 3rd party libraries (like Symfony2, Guzzle, etc) but I forgot to ignore the unit tests, so I'm sure that skews things. I'd run it again but it took a couple hours the first time. :-)

Super awesome presentation. Jam packed with nerd jokes. ;-)

Sorry, I had to bail early! Dinner called. I'm really curious about what the current Drupal 8 looks like through pdepend, so I'm going to give that a shot later. I'll post the result here.

Great show. I'll be honest, I was under suited for the conversation, but There are things I did learn. The whole reason I joined the group was to learn more about PHP. It was great, thanks for the time Arlen!

Sorry I can't make it now. Last minute problems at work that I have to take care of instead.

Oooh. This sounds like fun topic. Btw, last time I was at Bucketworks, it was mentioned that it was closing and becoming a brewery? Is that still the case?

Bucketworks is moving to a new location. I haven't heard where yet, but they will still be in the same place for our meet up this month. We're taking August off, so that gives us until September to figure out where our new home will be. We will make sure to announce it as soon as we know.
