New Meetup: Drupal 6/7 comparisons - and "help me with my code"

Announcing a new Meetup for Milwaukee PHP Users Group!

What: Drupal 6/7 comparisons - and "help me with my code"

When: Tuesday, November 9, 2010 6:00 PM

Where: Bucketworks
706 S 5th St
Milwaukee, WI 53204

First half, Ben is going to do a presentation on Drupal 6 and some of the 'basic' modules you need to get it up and running (CCK, Views, etc.). Then, he will give a brief overview of the changes in Drupal 7.

The second half of the group will be a "help me with my code" type of time. Whether you are just beginning or in the advanced quadrant, bring some code that you've been stuck on, don't understand, or want to have reviewed by other members of the group. We want to have a more laid back end to the meeting - and would love to get some problems solved along the way. Don't have any problem code? Come ready to help out your fellow MKEPUGers! :)

Ben presented. Then we did some break outs.

Joel had a table. He writes:
First, I helped Orlando with a mysql query that had a calculated field using datediff and if/then logic.
Next, I did a mini presentation on Navicat for mySQL and showed some of the awesome things it can do (data transfer, data/structure synchronization, import wizard)
I helped Scott with a php/html form question.
FInally, we had a nice discussion of git, gitosis and github.

Aaron had a table. I say:
I discussed my virtual server usage and then gave an intro to Zend Framework as well as demoed a completely local version of a Zend Framework based website.

Ben sent over this note:
Administration Menu - Allows for easy navigation of admin pages.
Content Construction Kit (CCK) - Allows for the creation of custom fields for nodes.
File Field and Image Field - File Field allows for universal file upload field for CCK. Image Field provides and image upload field for CCK.
Views - It's essentially a smart query builder that given enough information can build the query, execute it, and display the results.
ImageCache - Allows you to set pre-sets for image processing.
