Milwaukee Tech Engine Open Play Day

This session will be a continuation of the BeagleBone event we had in July.  Please feel free to bring your questions, your hardware, and your ideas.  This open brainstorming session will be a chance to geek out with other engineers who are interested in the BeagleBone and its associated capabilities.  If you have questions, please post them here.  Look forward to seeing you there!

Last week, an updated Production Image was released "BBB-eMMC-flasher-2013.09.04.img.xz". Instructions are at http://circuitco.com/support/index.php?title=Updating_The_Software#Image_For_Booting_From_microSD

With this image loaded on the BBB, I'm able to access the microSD card from /media. There are many more changes, but the one I needed gives a better ADC interface with continuous sampling of multiple channels into a buffer.

Thanks for the heads-up on the new version! I've been getting my images from here: http://downloads.angs...

The images on the angstrom site don't match. I wonder what the differences are. Does anybody know?

Apparently, this guy (Angstrom developer?) was able to set up video streaming with a camera cape and a Beaglebone (http://dominion.thruhere.net/koen/cms/streaming-video-from-the-beaglebone-camera-cape). He's doing the compression in software, on the Beaglebone White I presume, which has a slower clock.

So it seems (to someone who knows next to nothing about video processing) like using using the BBB as a recorder might be possible.

Is the camera cape compatible with the BBB? Would the camera cape interfere with the HDMI interface? Would writing to storage and updating a display add too much overhead? Could the work be split between two boards (for example, video capture and compression on BBB1 and display/record on BBB2, connected via ethernet ports)?

Thanks for the feedback Tom. Also, if you have any questions on cross compiling let us know.

Thanks to Jason and the other experienced Linux users, I was able to make a big step up in my development tools. This meeting format for learning while doing was perfect to get me unstuck.
