The Milwaukee Tech Engine would like to invite you to learn about the exciting world of Field Programmable Gate Arrays, or better known as FPGAs. These devices have become the dominate method of production of custom logic circuits. FPGAs give the designer the ability to literally make an ASIC on their desktop without having to resort to expensive NRE charges needed to produce a fully custom chip. In this technical talk, we explore the world of FPGAs and understand where they fit in the hardware design space. Topics will include the basics of FPGA design, available design tools (Many are free), and we will demo some of the unique characteristics of FPGAs.
