Membership Policy

We encourage you to join and welcome you to the Milwaukee Wine Lovers.

New Members:
New members may enjoy a one-time complimentary attendance to their first event prior to paying their membership dues (available within the first 3 months only), unless they have already attended a previous Meetup as a guest of another member. New members are strongly encouraged to attend their first event within the first three months of joining.

Events:
In the spirit of active participation all members need to attend at least one event every three months. Reminders will be provided to all events. So, please keep both your RSVPs to all events and your email address up to date.

Inactive participation or one or more no-shows to RSVP'd events may result in canceled membership. Last minute cancellations after the deadline to RSVP will be treated as a no-show. A combination of no-show activity and inactive participation will result in cancellation of membership. No-shows and last minute cancellations are non-refundable for fee-based events after the RSVP deadline. So, if you have paid for an event and it is past the RSVP deadline and you are unable to attend at the last minute, you may want to give your seat to a friend to attend in your place. But please send me a message to let me know, so that I can make the appropriate notes on our registration roster in preparation for their attendance.

Membership Dues:
Annual membership dues are currently $7 per person or $12 per couple. Membership dues are required to be paid before attending your second MWL event. This fee helps to off-set the costs of maintaining this website and coordinating events. All unpaid membership dues must be paid within three days prior to attending your second event. Each year membership dues will be re-evaluated and the price adjusted to cover forecasted costs.

RSVPs:
Many planned events require MWL to guarantee a minimum number of attendees. If you have RSVP'd to any event in the past and have any no-show activity AND have unpaid membership dues, your RSVP will likely be canceled to an event allowing another member to attend instead, if the event is reaching capacity. To avoid your reservation being canceled, pay your membership dues and update your RSVPs to all events as needed. Similar to other Meetup groups in the area, if you RSVP and are a no-show to ANY event at a commercial venue your membership with Milwaukee Wine Lovers will be canceled. Membership dues are also non-refundable for canceled membership as a result of no-show or inactive participation.
