Sent on: Wednesday, September 29, 2010 9:12 PM
Announcing a new Meetup for Milwaukee Wining & Dining Group!

What: Gumbo Get Down

When: Sunday, October 10,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Serb Hall
5101 Oklahoma Ave
Milwaukee, WI 53219

The Gumbo Git Down, at Serb Hall in Milwaukee, WI, from 3 - 7 p.m. will feature
delicious gumbo from Crawdaddy's, Fishbone's & other Milwaukee area restaurants, live music & entertainment (from The M.U.T.E.S., Jayme Dawicki, Take Solace and Blonde on Blonde), cash bar with beer from Milwaukee Brewing Co, and gift cards & door prizes from Maxie's Southern Comfort and other local businesses.

All proceeds will be donated to the Gulf Restoration Network.

Though the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico has finally stopped, there is still so much work to do. Hundreds of miles of shoreline and sensitive marshland have been fouled, thousands of sea creatures and birds have died, nearly one quarter of the Gulf's Federal Waters have been closed to commercial fishing, surface oil slicks continue to appear and migrate, and the full effects of underwater oil and the millions of gallons of potentially toxic dispersants is still not fully known.

Since 1994, the Gulf Restoration Network has been committed to uniting and empowering people to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf of Mexico region for future generations. They have taken a leadership role in holding BP and the federal government responsible for the destruction of so much environmentally and economically important habitat.
