I am pleased to announce that the roster of "active" members (logged in within the past 90 days) has hit an all time high at 140 active members!! It's the highest activity ever for this group, and has potential for exponential growth. If you have a friend/friends/parents/kids/co-workers who love food, please invite them to join.
Okay... maybe kids is a stretch... more than welcome at a brunch, but if we do a dinner/dance night, they'd better bring fake ID's..... "You must be this tall to ride this meetup group." LOL
Also, I have seen more and more singles at the meetups. Bear in mind that couples are also very welcome, so all of us single folk should invite our married friends to come have fun....
I'll be sending a letter to all soon to indicate the direction this group will be taking, in coordination with Restaurant Circle and A Taste Of Sunday (the other Milwaukee Foodie groups) It's not a competition - more like three groups who, while food is a focus, offer variety. I won't speak for the other two groups, but will be re-issuing the mission statement of this group soon, so watch for that email. But basically, all three groups have a 'focus." Watch for news on what direction this group will be taking, but what I'd like to do is this:
- Steer away from Sunday brunch, since A Taste if Sunday has that covered.
- Not limit ourselves to restaraunts. Wine tasting or home cooking/house parties would fit in.
- Add in "after dinner" secondary plans for members who don't want the meetup to end when the bill arrives. Off to another place - dancing, theater, billiards, drinks, darts, museums, anything goes, but food will remain the focal point. Think of it as an optional way to extend the evening past the meal.
I welcome ideas from all members, and will read and address your individual idea. Bon appetit and hope to see you all soon!
