Funding - keep this group - ASAP need response

  • Jun 5, 2015 · 7:00 PM
Update:[masked]- Please see discussion form... And comments below. This group will be shutting down - if we can get respond or people to help fund the monthly fees of the meetup website. We do have a Facebook too! Email me at [masked] I may be able to fund $15/month before the expiration date BUT I can not sustain the cost - I have numerously asked for help and solicitate for sponsorship - Thanks SiuLan / aka Pongo and Songee We have over 500 members - our last event - had 300 RSVP for the annual Pug Fest event - so far 247 something meetups :) We do not have much time - this the 3rd time this group may disappear - so sad. -------------

As founder and organizer of the Milwaukee Small Breed Dog Group and Rescue I have made every effort to provide the finest venues and entertainment for our members. I have come into some hard times financially and am no longer able to finance the $76 for our Meetup site space. I am asking for someone to help by stepping up not only by financing the $76 every six months but to also organize future meetup sessions.

I have lost my job of 6 years and am finding it very hard to find work that is permanent. I promise to return as soon as I am able. Until then I must stand down as leader of the Pack.
Thank you my dear friends.
Sincerely,
Jim Demos

    Hello,

We also have a Facebook for our Milwaukee Small Breed Dog Group.

Well, I can not afford $89.94 - it lures you in to step up and be an organizer to save the group and I thought I try it for the one month and see if we get more members willing to help pay for the fees. It lures you in saying $14.99 a month but when you go to pay, it is $14.99 for 6 months and you have to pay the 6 months right away. The month to month basis is $19.99 a month. With not a lot of feed back and trying for several years to keep this going - I am not even sure about paying $20 for one month!! We have only 3 days left!!

Jim originated this event and was the original person who formed this group - he is absent.
We need to have members step up or this group will disappear :(
It is not as much as picking a leader and staffing but to fund before the 3 day expiration date. I may fund for the one month to buy us time.

Jim, I am so sorry you are unable to continue as Leader of the Pack. You've done a wonderful job pulling this group together and I know we'll miss you at the helm. Zoom Room would be happy to pitch in to help with the cost of the site. Other than organizing the socials at Zoom Room, I don't think it makes sense for me take a leadership role in the group since I don't have a small dog at this time.

Thanks Gretchen. please email me at [masked] - I will be moving down to Milwaukee soon and this way hopefully Rainey and I can start to participate more with the Zoom Room. With this terrible winter - I hope that you have been busy and many members have participated and brought their dogs to the Zoom Room.

Hi Everyone, I am in! More than happy to contribute to the fees and help organize if needed. I suggest a meeting and anyone interested in helping with finances or organizing events could attend. We could have the meeting at a restaurant or ...? Best wishes and best of luck to you Jim. I hope you would continue to keep in touch with the group and maybe attend events. You have been an outstanding leader and this group is very enjoyable and fun. Jim or Songee let me know what I can do.

Jim, please let me know if we can set a date here and maybe this way we can get more involvement from within this group.

Jim, I also would be willing to help out with some financing for the site. Perhaps there could be a way for a few people to contribute so the expense is not placed on one person. Let me know if I can help, not able to take on organizing. [masked]

Hi Diane, I wanted to post a comment in regards to yours on the "suggestions" area of our "Meetup Site". You are absolutely correct when you said unless you arrange 3 RSVP's first for the event, the site is setup where it will not reach any other members. I posted a "Doggie Easter Egg Hunt" that was a spectacular event, but because I didn't pre-arrange 3 RSVP's it didn't reach any of our members and no one new about it. It was a free event, free parking, free refreshments, and lots of prizes. I don't personally care for the way the site is set-up in that way and it was unfortunate no one was given the opportunity to attend. I believe you have to register as an organizer and pay fees to post events. Have a great day! Debbie

I just posted a suggested event for May 18th at Nashotah dog park if anyone is interested.

Hi Debbie. That's too bad about your suggestion not making the main announcement area. Sounds like it would have been lots of fun. You are right, that the organizers are the only ones who can post meetups directly to the main area. In the other group I was in (before moving here), the organizers would frequently check the suggestions area, and then post the ones with specific places and times (like Sue's) as meetups. That way the suggestions could get announced without a set number of rsvps in advance. Sometimes the organizers could attend themselves, sometimes not. But at least the event got announced officially that way, and thus a greater chance of people getting to know about it.

I would also like to announce I have found a new job and am back at work full time. I fully intend to support this group and continue my work with fostering and rescuing dogs. It is my passion and my desire to make an impact on the community in a positive and proactive manner.

I may be down, but I am not out.

    Sincerely,

hi everyone, any time there are fees I see people don't attend the events with the exception of Gretchen Zoom room. Jim and I have talked about how many members we have but we do not see activities attendance but from but a few. We need to sit down and brain storm. I think we may need to get new organizers members since some of them have not participated in actual events for over a year or more. Jim and I have discussed how to get more people involved and actually attend events, I know a big part is the demographics. Also it is hard to be the organizer and attend every event, I suggest we can post events and ask for 'other members' to be the actual hosts. If anything could start to exchange emails and have a open form thru discussion but if you notice we don't aways have great response in the discussion via meetup. (Songee a/k/a SiuLan).

I like the idea of being connected to meetup because it links to other dog groups, then we can also know when they meet. If the fee is spread out it is minimal for one person to give with the number of people we have attending.

I'd suggest putting out a donations box at the next few meetups to give everyone an easy way to contribute. Also, is there a less expensive venue such as a Facebook group page that could be used for this? Frankly $76 every 6 months seems very expensive.

I will be happy to donate towards the finance fee. Please post how we can help sponsor. Unfortunately I don't believe I should volunteer as leader. Best wishes to you and hopefully you find something soon.

Jim, I would still like to be on the leadership team but unfortunately I am in the same boat as you for finances. I see Ellen has graciously offer to help out the group with the funding however I would be able to help organize future meetups (as I have been this past 6 months).
