Community Meditation Night

Meditating on kindness, compassion and human connection is one of the traditional ways to build resiliency during times of stress.

In partnership with the Cambridge Ten Thousand Villages store, meditation teacher Gena Bean will be leading this Compassion Meditation event as a service to our community.

Central Square, Cambridge 02139

Third Fridays of each month this winter  (Jan[masked], Feb[masked], March[masked])
6:45pm to 8pm

There will be an informal schedule. 
At about 6:45pm we'll set up some seats and have a chat about what meditation is about.  This is the official start time for our event.

The front door will be locked by 7:01.  Make sure to arrive either on-time or early! 
The store's registers will be closed by 7:05 so that employees can join us in meditation.


How to reserve your space:

Please rsvp here or call the store to rsvp. There are no "tickets" but we would like a head count in order to prepare a big enough space for sitting together.

Note: we typically have between 10 and 30 people attend these events.  RSVPing is pretty important because we need to move bookcases around to fit everybody in the space.  Thanks!

If you have hip/knee or other reasons to need a chair, make sure to rsvp here and say 'reserve a chair' in your comments.
There are seven folding chairs and a few low stools.  Zafu style cushions are sometimes available if the store has some in stock. But there are no guarantees. Most of us will be sitting on the floor. Feel free to bring your own pillow with you. 

What is planned: 
The hour (or so) that we spend together will include: discussion about compassionate healing for ourselves and each other, and an experience of lovingkindness meditation. The length of the meditation itself will probably be about 15 to 20 minutes long. No previous experience is required, the meditation will be easy for beginners to understand.

Note for February:    I have made a Valentine's present for all of you!   There is now an audio recording of the meditation we do at these events.  This Youtube video is the audio of a standard Lovingkindness meditation paired with kittens.  Kittens!
