When a river is agitated by its stormy surroundings, it becomes full of dirt and debris as it flows. As we attempt to cross this raging river, we cannot see through the muck to see what is under our feet as we step into the flow. This is similar to the storminess of our busy lives and our attempts to tame our own personal storms. :-)
As the river settles, the muck and debris sink to the bottom and rest. We can now see clearly through the water and can begin to cross this hurdle knowing exactly what is in front of us and what we must do to cross the river.
Meditation is how we settle or quiet our thoughts so that we can see more clearly and completely what lies before us. With this clarity, we can make better choices on how to best handle the difficult and the not so difficult situations in life. We are able to see the joys and the triumphs more clearly. We can remember more clearly now that the muck is settling in its place under the clarity.
There are many techniques and interesting ways to meditate. We will work with awareness and mindfulness meditation in a relaxed and open format. You will find techniques that work best for yourself now, and you will find techniques to change and adapt to when you are ready. What you choose to do with your new clarity is totally up to you.
Come casual and comfortable. Comfort is most important. Bring a soft mat or blanket (like a yoga mat or sleeping bag) and/or a small pillow or cushion. Please leave your Ego on the doorstep. Everyone in every walk of life is welcome to join us.
