The Astoria Bookshop is hosting a monthly mindfulness meditation class. Here is the description on their website. (Please note that the class is being taught by me, the meetup group organizer. In the future, I hope to post events being hosted by other teachers in the neighborhood as well.) So come by for the class, (7-8:30pm) and whoever would like to can come and get tea or a bite to eat afterwards somewhere close by and we can continue the discussion!

Come down to the Astoria Bookshop to breathe, get curious about our minds, learn the basics of mindfulness, and practice meditation with the community.

The evening will consist of guided meditation practice, a talk on a topic related to mindfulness, and plenty of time for questions and discussion.

No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation necessary.

$5-$10 suggested donation.

Instructor Emily Herzlin is a writer, editor, and teacher. She has taught creative writing and mindfulness meditation at Columbia University, The Interdependence Project, The New School, GreenspaceNYC, and Mission to (dit)Mars.

I'm so bummed because I always work late on Wednesday. Any chance this event will change days as the months go by?

I'm sorry I won't be able to attend this first meet-up because of a class I have at this time but hopefully I'll be able to make the next!

The next one is on January 8th (also a Wednesday.) Hope you can make it. We'll most likely be having this meeting on the first Wednesday of each month.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
