Pizza, fresh air, and username exchange

Let's get the kids together so they can meet and talk in person. Was thinking about bringing a few big pizzas to one of the parks up near Poway/Carmel Valley since a lot of our members are up there. Can anyone recommend a great park up there? The kids can eat pizza and run around a bit. One of our members has offered to host a free server just for the group. :) The kids could all leave the Meetup with each other's usernames and the server info, then go home and start playing Minecraft with their new friends. Future Meetups should be even easier after that. Time & Location TBD after I've talked to a few of you. thanks!!!

Can't wait to be able to meet like minded families. I'm sitting here marveling at my 8 year old giving a narration of what he's building on Minecraft. This is probably more than he's ever spoken about anything! Can any parents relate?

Let's just say I know WAY more about "the Wither effect" than I care to! ;-)

:-) your msg made me laugh so much, because that was me last night :-) my son wears me out and by now he thinks I know everything about Minecraft. I was thinking of going to Get Air trampoline in poway tomorrow afternoon, maybe we all can get together and get them to jump a little and talk more Minecraft :-)

Wish I could have made it...we have family in town. Hopefully next time!

Thanks for a great first Meetup. You guys are awesome. I'll type up the list of usernames and email them out tomorrow. (Helping Greer with her science fair project tonight...due tomorrow...sigh).

So stoked! My son has been dying to meet more Minecraft enthusiasts! I'll bring cash to help pitch in on the pizza! See you all there :)

My daughter isn't feeling to well so we have to stay home but we'll meet up with you guys on the next one. Can't wait!

      May 18

    • Allison G.

I'm bringing cash. Waiting for her to finish shopping, then we are on our way from esco.

I'm getting ready to head out in a few minutes to pick up pizza etc. If anybody needs to reach me you can text or call me at[masked]-8580. See you soon!

We will be there for sure! Zane is super excited about this! And I know my daughter will have a great time exploring a new park...how have we not been there??

    1 · May 18

    • Michele

Minecraft shirt and sword ready! ;-)

      May 18

  • Michele

We are hoping to make it...just have to see how the day goes tomorrow. If we come, we can only stay for about an hour and a half because Zane has a soccer game. thanks!

    1 · May 17

  • Theresa Trageser H.

Oh, also, please don't count us in on the pizza headcount. My kids have celiac so they won't be able to eat it.

    May 17

  • Lisa M.

I'm going to have my kids wear Minecraft shirts and bring their foam swords/pickaxes so that you guys can identify us. :) I've never been to the park so I'm not sure where we'll be, but I'll make it as obvious as possible and near the main parking lot (unless Deva you have a better suggestion?). Really looking forward to meeting everybody!

    May 17

    • Theresa Trageser H.

There are two parking lots. The main one is near the gymnasium. It might make more sense to meet by the playground. There are picnic tables there.

      1 · May 17

    • Lisa M.

Thanks for the heads up. I will make my way to the picnic tables by the playground.

We are fine, should be there tomorrow

Is everybody doing okay with this fire situation? I can push the Meetup out a few weeks if there's too much going on with all this craziness... Let me know.

    May 17

    • Allison G.

We're returning home today. We were not under a mandatory evacuation but the neighborhood immediately west of us was, but we left before the order went out. I'm a paranoid momma ;) I'll do my best to have my Minecrafter there

      1 · May 17

The air is clear here. We were at the park yesterday, and it was fine. Allison, glad you're going home!

Hi Everyone, my son and I are really looking forward to this adventure tomorrow. We are good to go.

Hope everyone was okay this week in light of all the fires.

    See you soon!

PS - Should we bring a pizza?

    1 · May 17

    • Lisa M.

Yay! Sounds like we're on...don't worry about the pizza, i'll pick up a few. thanks, tho!

We will be out of town this weekend, but awaiting future meet ups with this group. Genius idea, btw!

    1 · May 14

Ok, i set the time for Sunday at 1pm. Hope that works for you guys.

    2 · May 13

  • Tracy S.

Hello, I have RSVPd yes, but may have to wait until the next meetup to actually meet up :) My son will be with his dad this weekend. So, if it doesn't work this time, I will look forward to joining at the next event.

    1 · May 12

  • Lisa M.

Hey guys, which day/time would work best? I have a class on Sunday from 10-noon but am free otherwise. Saturday afternoon? Sunday afternoon?

    May 12

    • Michele

Zane has a soccer game at 3 on Sunday...if it was before that we could come. Saturday we are not available until late afternoon. Might not be the best weekend for us overall, but we will try to make it work if we can. I told Zane about it...he said it sounds awesome! He has an ipad mini....no mobile wifi, but he can sign in if there is a network. Would that even work for us?

      May 12

    • Cheryl

Sat am before gets too hot or Sun afternoon

      May 12

  • Lisa M.

Ok, so Carmel Mountain Ranch Community Park sounds like a really good place to meet (http://www.yelp.com/biz/carmel-...). Would next Sat or Sun (May 17 or 18) work?

    May 11

    • Michele

Location works great for me, when the date and time is decided, I will let you know if we can join. I have an almost 7 year old (the minecrafter) and an almost 4 year old. Is anyone bringing little siblings to play at the park?

      May 12

    • Deva

Michele, I'm planning to bring my 4 year old daughter (and 7 year old minecrafter).

      1 · May 12

  • Deva

Sounds like a great idea, thanks! One suggestion would be CMR Community Park, by the CMR/Sabre Springs rec center. It's right off the exit by where the 15 and 56 meet, so pretty accessible. My son already calls it "The Minecraft Park", because this is where he and a friend meet to play live-action Minecraft with sticks, rocks, and other stuff they find there. Looking forward to it!

    May 11

    • Lisa M.

That sounds perfect! I just looked it up on the map and it's right in the middle of everybody. Thanks!!

You mean my kid's not the only kid building a Minecraft "that doesn't use batteries and waste electricity"? I have to smuggle Amazon boxes out of the house before they're repurposed.
