Bike the Belt Line!!

Hey Everyone....I just read in Atlanta Magazine that one of the top 20 fun things to do in Atlanta is to Bike the Belt Line. Let's do it!! Enjoy the beautiful weather and get in a little exercise. We will ride from Piedmont Park to Inman Park and stop and enjoy lunch at a great restaurant. We will meet promptly at 11am at 14th and Piedmont Rd. You can park on the street if you are lucky to find a spot or at Colony Square and also at the Park's garage for $2 an hour with a max at $15. The ride and lunch should take about 3-4 hours. If you need to rent a bike they can be rented at 10th and Piedmont Rd....Skate Escape 1086 Piedmont Rd. [masked]-1292. The rate is $6 per hour.

If you have any questions please let me know. We look forward to riding with you!!!

    Morning,
I'm sorry, but I didn't ride with the group. I did make it down there the event started at 11 and the bike shop didn't open until 11. Me and my friends we road the Belt Line without the group and we had a great time. Sorry I wasn't able to meet up with the group. Thank you

If you take Marta you can get off at 10th St and ride straight down 10th St to the park. The trail starts just up from where 10th St. dead ends into Monroe.

That section of the completed belt line is two and a half miles, ending in The Old 4th Ward on Erwin St. It is not a circle back, so you could turn around and head back to Piedmont Park. However, like Diane and Isabel said, not the best day to be in the park because of allll of the activities. Is there a more convenient place to meet? Perhaps up by Grady High School or further along the trail?

Fyi, A good alternative to driving is to take the Marta Rail. You can bring a bike on board. It is somewhat of a hassle in that you have to hold it up during the ride but not difficult. To get to 14th & Piedmont, get off at the Arts Center Station. After you exit the station, take a left on 15th st. Then a right on Peachtree St. Then a left on 14th to Piedmont.

Tomorrow is pride weekend at Piedmont Park. You will be fighting 100,000 people and the parking and streets are closed off.

Skate Escape is on 14th and Piedmont Rd. Directly across the street from where we are meeting.

I just got back from a bicycle trip on the belt line. It was very nice. It pretty much emulates the Silver Comet Trail as far as width goes but it is not near as long. No motorized vehicles are allowed.

I was unable to download the map on the Atlanta Belt Line website so I could figure out the # of miles for this route. Does anybody know the approx # of miles?
