The Joys of January DOCILE DOGGIE Playgroup

Hey Hey Party Peeps,

It's c-c-c-COLD out there! Our paws are freezing, our tails are drooping, we're wondering where on earth we can go to get out of this madness??? That's easy - Mini-Mutts of course! .Let's warm up together at the Joys of January DOCILE DOGGIE playgroup! For those of you who have not read about the changes to Mini-Mutts, BE SURE TO DO SO BEFORE SIGNING UP.

This playgroup is for doggies with energy levels 5 and UNDER (with 1 being very low). See more details in the Changes Announcement which can be found on our discussion board. Also remember that if you have said you are coming and then find yourselves unable to make it, RSVP changes are now cut off 24 hours prior to group.

Please also note the changes in admission prices, which are now Five dollars for the first doggie, and Two bucks for EACH additional dog.

As usual, we will have our ever fabulous Susan offering her ever fabulous Five Dollar Nail Trims, so be sure to bring an extra five and let us know at the front if you'd like to get on the list.

That's all for now, folks!

Come One, Come Small, to the Joys of January Docile Doggie Playgroup!!!

Love,

Cai'lin & Shawn, Flynnagin & Lilly

Well, don't I feel like a real schmuck! I guess I should have kept my comment to myself; so no more comments will come from me. Cal'lin & Steve, I apologize to you and anyone else that I have offended; I meant no disrespect. I understood you wanted feedback and it was only a comment; nothing more and nothing less. I do want to let you know that we truly do enjoy Mini-Mutts, my guys and myself always have a great time. I do know how much work goes into running the meet-up and have always appreciated your time and effort that both of you put into it.

Thanks Cai'lin. I did want to clear something up though. It was never how much my fee went up as I can certainly afford the $9.00; it was more to do with how it affected only a few people (with more than 1 dog) instead of affecting everyone. Mini-Mutts is a great doggie playgroup and we look forward to it every month.

You are right, Susan. This has been a learning experience for me as well, and I definitely needed to give more clarification regarding all the reasoning behind the fee changes to begin with. Glad we have set everything straight now! See you next month :) Cai'lin

    Great new structure.

Love the new structure. My shy dog had a lot more fun with other shy docile dogs. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication. Lupita and I greatly appreciate it.

Amazing! I much prefer having the two groups, even though it was still full, I was able to let my old Pug cruise around without worrying that he was going to get tackled. Much quieter and very nice to see the shy ones come out and mingle.

Thanks for a great playgroup! My guys, Logan, Jackson and Grrr really enjoyed themselves. They definitely wondered around a lot more, especially Logan; Logan would come back every so often to make sure I was okay (haha!) and wonder off again. My only comment I have is my fee almost doubled from $5.00 to $9.00 because I have three dogs; I almost felt like I was being punished for having three dogs. I understand that costs go up but to put it on a few people to pay for this increase is a bit hard to understand. However, that being said, I will still be coming as my guys love these doggy groups and they are "worth it." In any event, we all had a lot of fun!

Hi Anne, I hope Echo follows suit with the others and gets a bit further from all the laps. We noticed Lilly come out from under the table a few times too. Very encouraging for us! Regarding the fees, I think it can best be explained like this: Docile Doggies and Rambunctious Rovers are two entirely separate playgroups. When you RSVP to both, you hold two separate spots. Therefore, entry fees renew in each, at their regular rates. Hope this answers your question! :) Cai'lin

I will keep trying with Echo! She sure enjoys the people though! No issue here, very nicely clarified.

Louie and Breyer had an awesome day, yesterday. I noticed that a lot of dogs that used to go under chairs, were really relaxed and wandering around with happy doggy grins. This was a stupendous idea to divide the dogs ! Regarding the new fees, I am happy to pay the fee. Where else (really) can you go for this exposure, and have your dogs have such a great time. Heck, even I have a great time! My dogs are 10 and 12 and have limited access to other venues because of their age. I feel priviledged to be a part of Mini-Mutts ! :)

We are SO pleased with how it turned out! I think that for the most part, people judged which group their doggies belonged in quite well. It was a very big change among the Docile Group to see some of the shyer guys coming out of their shells, so to speak. It seemed like they felt safer and more secure, and this allowed them to explore a bit more and go further from mum and dad on their own. A big step for independence! While the Rambunctious Rovers were a smaller group, they were still definitely the loudest :) I really think it benefited our higher energy pooches to hang out with other high energy dogs who wanted to play chase just as much as they did, without having to worry about getting in trouble for not knowing who wants to play and who doesn't. My perception was that all dogs and dog-parents had a more enjoyable time. As I said before, I am VERY happy with the results of these changes at Mini-Mutts and want to say thank you, thank you SO MUCH for attending!
    Love,
    C&S, F&L

Thank you so much for all Cai'lin and Shaun for all of your hard work. This change to the playgroup has been absolutely amazing.

This was the most enjoyable playgroup Abbie and I have been to. It was the very first Docile Doggie group and in my opinion was very successful. The whole atmosphere was totally pleasant. All of the dogs seemed so at ease. I did not notice any of them hiding under chairs this time.

I think the new fee structure is great. This is a hugely popular group and everyone wants to participate. However, With all due respect, perhaps we should have a limit on the # of dogs each person can bring. Maybe a 2 dog maximum with the increase $7.00) and rotate the their pups next time if they have more than one or two, it's not perfect, but there are a lot of people on the waiting list, multiple dog owners reduce the total number allowed to come and no one wants to be left out. ...Just My two cents, but I think the fee structure should stick and Cai'lin and Shaun are doing the best.....not there fault they run such a great meetup!!

I just want to add to earlier positive comments. This was the first time Mikkie walked around and interacted with the other dogs the whole time during meet-up. This is a group of dogs he feels comfortable with. Thank you Cai'lin for making the change to the advantage of our Docile Doggies.

Willy really enjoyed the change! He actually wandered around the whole time and didn't hide under the chair! Great Change, and Cai'lin and Shaun, you guys are doing a great job in making sure everyone especially the furry kids have a good time!

Our Bruno really benefited with the change in the group. He began playing immediatly with his fur friends, not running from the them and protecting his butt and heading under the chairs! He continued to play for a good 3/4 hour before coming to us! At that time he wanted up but not because of the dogs but because he was tired and ready for a sleep. Caitlin, it takes a lot of your time to organize us all and we really appreciate all you do that we don't see. Thanks again and see you next month.

I just wanted to thank everyone for judging their dogs appropriately! Aside from a cpl dogs i thought that could have been in the other group, most of the dogs in the docile group were great! Thanks to this huge change my pup actually managed to stay the whole time and never actually went under a chair!! She ran and played for once! So, based on this we will be returning and hopefully she shows more improvement in socialization!
Thanks you SO MUCH Cai'lin and family for making this wonderful change! I really hope it continues to go this smoothly every month and that you keep the change!! :)

The group was incredible! We had so much fun. I don't know if I had more fun than our girls did. It was so enjoyable to see all the wonderful, tiny little doggies running all over. Once again, everyone we spoke with was very, very pleasant and kind. We will definately be back as regulars. Thank you to all who made this event possible.

Still waiting. Just wondering why is the second group so easy to attend. Are a lot of dogs that rambunctious?

    January 12, 2013

    • Cai'lin and S.

Hi Carol, I just checked the RSVP's and it looks like you are still on the wait list. RSVP's are now closed, so unfortunately you will not be able to get in tomorrow. Our docile group filled up quite fast, so make sure you are signed up for our email notifications so you know immediately when they are announced (they fill up in a few days). Regarding our rambunctious group, I don't have an educated answer for you; this is the first time the groups have ever been split, so we will see how things go tomorrow and make changes if necessary. Thanks, and hope to see you out next month :) Cai'lin

Instead of having two groups which it seems the first one is most popular can people stop the dogs and rest if too hyper

    January 12, 2013

    • Cai'lin and S.

Hi Carol, this is the first time the group will be broken into two. Please have a look at our big changes to mini mutts page in the discussions tab. It is a pilot project, so we will see how it goes! :) Cai'lin

I actually stopped taking my 6mos old pup to Mini Mutts because a lot of the dogs were way way too hyper and not being controlled very well by their owners. I found my 6mos old pup was getting cornered all the time and ended up not coming out form under the chairs. So what was the point in my bringing her? I am REALLY REALLY hoping those with the hyper dogs put them in the other group appropriately! I had honestly given up on mini mutts til i got the email saying there were now two groups!!
If my very shy, skiddish, docile pup doesnt have a better go around this time... i'm not sure i will keep attending :S I actually love mini mutts personally but my lil girl doesnt so far!

I accepted a spot in the docile group in early Jan. At the time I accepted, there were spaces available. Jan4 I got a waitlist email. At 5AM today, I got another email asking me to confirm but there are no spaces now. Is this the process everytime for this group?

    January 12, 2013

  • Linda C.

I have a waitlist email. Do you get another email if you are allowed to attend?

Hi Everyone. Our girls Buffy and Chloe are sure looking forward to meeting you all this Sunday. We hear it is a great group!

Just letting everyone know that we have had some problems with our website. It seems to have put some people on the waitlist when they should have gotten on the attending list. I have no way to figure out who should have gone where, so I have instead opened our list to 50 people instead of 40. I am hoping that with having the higher energy dogs at the other group, this can still be a good fit for everyone else. Thanks!

Cai'lin: I'm confused. Am I able to attend, or are we on the wait list? Thx. Patty
