East St Paul (ESP) Speculative Fiction Meetup

Our April meetup will be at the same place with the same topic. My apologies that our critiques went overtime so we have continued the discussion on Sentence Fragments until next month.

As always, we'll accept three submissions for critique. Please note that several things have been added to the guidelines. The guidelines are:

  • Submissions must be listed in Files under MORE! on the Homepage by April 2nd. You can't access Files unless you are logged in on the Homepage.
  • They should be under 10,000 words and submitted in Word or RTF format--but not .docx or PDF. Also, remember to add page numbers so those doing critiques on a separate sheet of paper have a reference point.
  • Please preface submissions with [ESP Crit 4-9] so we know it's for our group.
  • If you submit a continuation of a previous submission, please do a synopsis to be included in the 10,000 word count. It's also helpful to indicate your audience.

To critique submissions:

  • Locate [ESP Crit 4-9] submissions listed in Files under MORE!.
  • Print out a copy of the manuscript and make your edits and comments on it. It's OK to change the format to save paper.
  • OR, make your comments on a separate sheet of paper referencing the page numbers and give it to the author.

See you all in April!

We had a great group for critiquing and discussion. We greeted several new members and fresh faces can bring fresh ideas!

Hey all...I worked all day and came home feeling completely exhausted so I will be staying home and resting and working on book stuff for the conference. This Saturday, I will be driving to WI and will be pitching to a reputable agent. Keep me in your thoughts. I have 8 minutes to sell myself as a writer and one or more of my books. Just finished writing my 15th title while working full time AND...*drum roll* expecting a new 2013 Shore YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
    :-DDD Hence the tired-ness

Hey folks! Work has still been preventing me from participating, just wanted to give an update. So far, have approached two agencies hoping they'll help me out with "The Widow Brigade", but no luck yet. Still trying.

Should I upload the revised portion of the Symbiote for everyone to see for the next meeting? Did a ton of revising, but the switch from italics to another font for the alien speech is still in progress

Hey thanks I will pass it along...

Let me know if you think I should place all of the beginning parts in past tense or if it works as revised. I switched the beginning parts with Howl and the back story of the girls' parents to past, but Part 1 where we go into Eden's Preparation Day and then kidnapping is in present tense, but I can do past tense all the way up until we have the start of the individual stories, but it will require a heck of a lot more revision and don't know if I can get it done on time by the conference next month X_X

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
