Write Now! Game Night at Merlins

A few members tried the original Write Now! at an MSP meeting. It involves writing a very short story based roughly on the game's category cards. It would lend itself to people who order a meal and work on their story as they eat. For dessert we'd read the stories.

The new version is geared to instant gratification. The cards are more detailed. Players are dealt category cards and the host asks someone to kick off the story by reading a card. Another member must choose a card they feel ties into the card just read. Players take turns continuing the story. It is a cooperative game in which players improvise plot twists, transitions, character development and an ending based on their cards. The card category descriptions include: characters, motivations, events, places, and items. My sense of humor had a bit of influence on the descriptions so be warned. There are no rules but I've always held to the motto "Good Taste is Timeless" and expect players would adopt this as our moral compass. Or not. With a few Guinness, I expect we could craft the next great American short story...or an additional episode of Gilligan's Island.

I'll bring both card sets and we'll see what happens.

I was told Tuesdays at Merlins were quiet so I wasn't prepared for the sword dancers and the noisy crowd that collected beforehand. Last Tuesday it was very quiet. I'm looking for a new and more predictable venue. The stories were fun. I'll post the next one on the calendar when I've found a place. It'll have to have Guinness or a good alternative.

I'll have pens and sheets of paper. Be warned! There are few outlets for laptops.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
