Gang -- UPDATE: We now have 40 seats available. Our contact at Allied Advertising is offering us once again free tickets, this time to a Paramount movie showing. This looks to be a real treat for all those Neil Gaiman fans out there. Here's the synopsis: From the imaginations of best-selling author Neil Gaiman and director Matthew Vaughn comes "Stardust," the enchanting story of a fallen star who crashes into a magical kingdom. The star turns out to be no ordinary meteorite, but a beautiful, imperilled woman chased after by an incredible array of seekers who want or need her secret powers. From wicked witches to power-mad princes, from flying pirates to dueling goblins, each person who encounters the star has his or her own agenda, but they all desire just one thing: her heart. RSVPs: I have forty seats to give away, so there are no "maybe" RSVPs allowed for this one. RSVP early if you want a ticket. Do not RSVP "Yes" unless you are sure of attending. WAITING LIST: If there are no more spaces available, and you want to be on the waiting list, RSVP "No" but put "waiting list" in the comments, and tell me if you also want to bring a guest. I may be able to wheedle more tickets out of our contact if you do this early. PARKING: It's at the Landmark Lagoon Theater in Uptown, so parking will likely be hard to find. Plan accordingly, and alot enough time to find a parking space if you are coming by car. The movie starts at 7:30, but the seating is going to be nuts with this many people, so I want people to start meeting us at 7:00 so that we can get some blocks of seats together. See you at the movies! Your dis-Organizer, Hmm

Loved it though I did note many departures from the graphic novel which was my original introduction to the story. I concede that most of the changes were made for dramatic effect.

An amazing movie, and seeing it before it was released, for free... just amazing.

Better than average competent production that avoided the obvious mistakes. I detected no serious flaws.

    2 thoughts -
    1) as a movie goer I would say it is the best movie I have seen in a long time
    2) as a writer I would say I am envious in a petty venial way at the amount of creativity Mr. Gaimen seems to enjoy

Pirates, witches, power mad princes and true love. How can you go wrong with that? (We did have some worries about the bridge collapse before the movie, though.)

    Hmm

I thought the movie was very fun. Some of the scenes were very close to the book. There were other scenes where characters deviated for "cinematic" reasons. Still, since Gaiman was one of the producers of the film as well as writing the original novel, he kept a lot of creative control.
