Sidepot Event: Caravan Palace!

Caravan Palace is SUPER FUN DANCE MUSIC!!! They are an electro-swing band from France. They will be playing at the Cedar Cultural Center on April 5th. I am crazy excited to see them and have already bought my ticket. If you are interested in seeing them I HIGHLY RECOMMEND: BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW! I suspect they may sell out...

Here is the blurb from the Cedar's website: "Caravan Palace utterly wowed a capacity crowd last July in the heat of the summer, and we simply HAD to bring them back at the first opportunity. The hot Parisian electro-swing six-piece have brought the traditional sounds of gypsy jazz to the modern-day dancefloor across France and Europe, and are now taking North America by storm. Catch them at The Cedar a week ahead of their first Coachella appearance in front of thousands! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"

Doors open at 7pm, band starts at 8pm, and maybe we can grab a bite or drink beforehand or after?...I am not too familiar with the area down there so I will do some research and update later. Please note that the meet-up time may therefore change accordingly...
Another note: wear clothes and shoes to dance in and be prepared for a big crowd.

I am going to post a couple links to videos below to give you a taste of their joy :)!

Ya we got swept up in the flow of people heading out a fire exit so we didn't make it back to the rally point, but had so much fun :) Sorry we missed you too!

Sandra - call/text Chris Hoppe at [masked] if you still need a ride. :-)

TODAY IS THE DAY!!!! So excited :)
If you have not bought your ticket you may be out of luck - as Toni said they were sold out.
Please cancel here if you are unable to attend. We will be meeting up at the Acadia Cafe (http://www.acadiacafe.com/) at 6:30pm. Doors open at 7 show starts at 8.
My cell is[masked], though it is probably better to text than call. I will check my phone regularly. Parking
Parking is available at the University of Minnesota 19th Avenue Ramp, located just 1/3 block east of the Cedar Cultural Center on Riverside Avenue. (http://www1.umn.edu/twincities/maps/19Ramp/)

Darn! Sorry to hear that! I hope you can score a ticket...Are they selling them anywhere besides the CCC?

      April 4, 2014

  • Heather R.

Again, I recommend purchasing your tickets early - cheaper that way and in case they sell out. Also, some of us are planning on having pre-show dinner at Acadia (http://www.acadiacafe.com/) and you all are welcome to join us there for that. Supposedly they validate parking for an hour in a lot near by.

**Please let me know in advance if you will meet for dinner though so I can give Acadia a heads-up!**

Meet for dinner at Acadia: 6:30pm

Meet for the show at 7:30pm, just inside the front entrance to the Cedar (though texting me at that time would be a good idea so we can find each other).

    Music starts at 8pm.

Glad the Acadia suggestion worked out for folks. See you there/then. (Don't forget they say that they'll validate the ramp parking next door.)

Was I cross-dressing as Little Orphan Annie again? I've tried to cut back on that stuff, really!

Alright - how about meeting up at Acadia (http://acadiacafe.com/as_food-menu) before hand for some dinner.
Is there a preference for time? Does 6:30 work? Doors for the show open at 7, but band starts at 8....so 6:30 sounds like sufficient time since it is so close to the venue. Again, I encourage people to purchase the ticket now rather than at the door in case they sell out.

See you a2 6:30, ticket in hand!

Got my ticket! I will join for dinner at Acadia too.

    Hello all!
I am wondering if people are interested in meeting before hand for food and/or drinks, say at 6pm? (I am better at earlier than later!)

I am not familiar with the area, so I am open to suggestions of where.
Possibilities look like: Dilla's Ethiopian Food, Wasabi (about a 5 minute drive north) Japanese fusion, or Republic (about a 5 minute walk north). Please weigh in so I can change the time. If not, then I will likely change it to 7 or 7:15 since the music starts at 8pm.

No, more like basic sandwiches and pub grub. But it's affordably unpretentious and also has wine. Met a friend there who was playing with his jazz band - the atmosphere is serendipitous.

Thanks Chris for the scoop! Acadia it is :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
