Monthly GM and Player Meetup

  • Sep 18, 2012 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join us to learn about new games, chat about RPGs and the industry, announce games, find players and GMs, and make new friends! Although we don't actually play anything at our monthly meetup, at past meetups we have had players connecting with GMs to play in games of D&D, BESM, Star Wars: Saga Edition, World of Darkness, GURPS, Shadowrun, Cyberpunk 2020, Castles and Crusades and others. We also have people interested in less well known indie titles such as Nobilis, Dogs in the Vineyard, Inspecters, Primetime Adventures, Burning Wheel, and more. We even have a member who has published his own system Heirs to the Lost World. So whatever your game is, chances are you can find someone interested in playing it.

I heard some cool ideas from a number of people. I met 2 people interested in a WoD campaign that my friend and I would like to start.

So, I might be working as late as nine tomorrow, so I won't be able to come unless I get off before seven. If that's the case, if anyone is looking for someone to join their pathfinder or 3.5 group let me know. I might be looking for someone interested in to join my adnd group as well, so if you're interested in that let me know. I really want to show up tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to do, but it just depends when we get done at work.

Kimberly - I would be interested in speaking with you about your 3.5 group as I am new to the area and am looking for a group that I might fit in with. I don't want to be intrusive and disruptive, just want to talk it over with you and see what we think. Thanks.

Ah, I meant if someone was looking for another player in their 3.5 group I'd be interested. If you're interested in an adnd group that I run over skype(since some players aren't in the state) I'd be more than willing to teach you the system since it's not too hard to understand.

Hey guys - I'm afraid Bill and I can't make it after all. They rescheduled our District Board Meeting for tomorrow night. >_< Sorry!

I can stay for an hour or so. Have men's choir just down the road at 7

Hey everyone! Just moved back to the Midwest after four and a half years in Arkansas (I do not recommend trying that out...) and looking for some light gaming as well as a regular 3.5 D&D group to campaign with. Open to scheduling as I'm starting a new job soon, but really looking forward to making some friends and getting back into gaming.

      Welcome back!

Hi, I am a long-time GM who doesn't get to be on the player side very often, looking to join or start a D&D3.5, pathfinder, serenity, starwars, espionage, or swashbuckling campaign.

Is it okay to come late? What time does this go to? I'm thinking I'm working until 6 or 7 that day.

It sometimes runs long but the intros and stuff will be over before 7. There is a discussion period where you can sit and talk with people about games though.

Max would like to know: Do I need to buy miniatures to play D&D 4.0? I already have the Player's Handbook, and a set of dice. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It helps to have some type of counters, as 4e has VERY tactical movement. A product that is really great is the Monster Vault (30.00) which has a bunch of gloss cardboard monster counters, and some that can even be used as PC

(oops!) and as PC's - though I like to buy the prepainted mini's for PC's - they look cooler, and you'll hopefully be using them a lot more than any given monster. Monster Vault also has a Monster book in it, so you get that to add as your collection. Not sure how many tokens are in the box, but it's a lot (I'm going to toss out a guess of 200 or so?) compared to minis, which go for 5 bucks a pop (forgetting the issue of painting some of them), a 30 dollar box set with a book is a bargain. You probably want to pick up a gaming mat as well, you can draw on it with Vis a Vis overhead projector pens (DO NOT use draw erase markers!). I would suggest counters and a mat (and a monster book) are usually tools provided by the person running the game, so if you just want to play, a Player's Handbook, lucky set of dice, and a mini to represent your character is probably all you would need.
