Hunger and the 2013 Farm Bill

Most Minnesotans are woefully ignorant about the politics of hunger, and about the elephant in the kitchen, the 2013 Farm Bill with which Congress is now grappling.

Join Colleen Moriarty, Exec. Dir. of Hunger Solutions Minnesota, for a working discussion of the issues of hunger in our community.  Statistics tell the story of poverty and hunger in the midst of wealth.   In Minnesota, over 10% of families are “food insecure."   Minnesotans visited food shelves more than three million times in 2012. Ms. Moriarty will discuss hunger in Minnesota and its connections to the pending 2013 Farm Bill.  A working discussion will follow in which the speaker will solicit ideas & opinions from audience members.  Hunger is one of our nations' most complex challenges.

I just love the passion our speakers have! I have never been to an event where I didn't learn a number of very interesting things.

The speaker was exceptionally knowledgeable and articulate. Having been involved in hunger issues for years and from spending regular time in Washington lobbying and negotiating, she was able to share the history of the issue and current Washington politics from a first-hand perspective. I wish more people could have heard her.
