Picnic and Racing at Canterbury Park, May 15, 12:00 p.m.

Admission: FREE
Parking: FREE

The Minnesota Atheists are going to the track! Not to worry, race fan Brian Knoblock will offer advice on how to bet without losing your Minnesota Atheist t-shirt. But even if wagering has no appeal for you, come to see Mr. Ed's descendants and enjoy lunch with your MNA pals in Canterbury's picnic area. We'll put on the feedbags at noon and stay to watch the races, which start at 1:30.

There is a parking lot by the track, so if there's another event going on, tell the guy trying to wave you in that you came to see the horses. You can bring a picnic lunch and meet us in the outdoor picnic area outside the grandstand, or you can buy food at Canterbury. Coolers are welcome, but no alcoholic beverages or glass containers in the picnic area, please (although you can buy and drink alcohol inside). This is a family-friendly atmosphere, so if your kids are interested in horses running fast around a track with small humans on their backs, bring 'em.

If you're planning on bringing food and/or beverages to share, please announce it when you RSVP. That way we'll be sure all that potato salad won't go to waste.

Thanks to Brian, who was the real organizer. It was great fun, seeing the horses up close, winning a few show bets, and scoring a clubhouse reserved table for the last few races.

A clarification to the term picnic area as there are two at Canterbury:

I will be getting there early enough to get one or two of the picnic tables facing the race track, as long as they are not reserved that weekend (it is opening weekend). There is a family picnic area just off the general admission gate, which can be a backup.
