We Minnesotans are exceptionally fortunate to share the home state of Dr. P.Z. Myers. Educator, blogger, articulate critic of the pseudoscience known as "intelligent design" as well as the dogma of creationism, and tireless advocate for enlightened atheism, he frequently travels from his home in Morris (where he is a professor of biology at the University of Minnesota Morris and researcher in the field of evolutionary developmental biology) to speak to our group. If you've never read his blog Pharyngula (Nature's 2006 pick as top blog written by a scientist), if you don't know the story of his experience with the anti-evolution film Expelled, his provocative response to the "hostage" communion wafer incident at the University of Central Florida in 2008, or his field trip with members of the Secular Student Alliance to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, here's the chance to start catching up on all you've been missing. And if you're one of the many freethinkers who have been following Dr. Myers online and through the news, you won't want to miss this opportunity to hear him in person.
Join us on Sunday, February 20th at the Roseville Public Library for what promises to be an informative, enlightening, and extremely entertaining afternoon.
Dr. Myers' presentation will be preceded by a Minnesota Atheists business meeting which will include elections to our board of directors, and followed by an early dinner at the Panda Garden Buffet.
