Jesus Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible -Bart Ehrman

Join us for a fun evening as we discuss Jesus, Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible by Bart Ehrman.

The discussion begins at 7pm in the Davanni's "Party Room", but many of us arrive at 6:30 to have a little dinner. The evening usually concludes around 9pm after everyone has an opportunity to share their book recommendations and other ideas for group events.

From :

The Human Story Behind the Divine Book

In this New York Times bestseller, leading Bible expert Bart Ehrman skillfully demonstrates that the New Testament is riddled with contradictory views about who Jesus was and the significance of his life. Ehrman reveals that many of the books were written in the names of the apostles by Christians living decades later, and that central Christian doctrines were the inventions of still later theologians. Although this has been the standard and widespread view of scholars for two centuries, most people have never learned of it.

Jesus, Interrupted is a clear and compelling account of the central challenges we have when attempting to reconstruct the life and meaning of Jesus.

***We'll be taking suggestions for future books so please come with your ideas!***

For those who RSVPed "Yes" and didn't show up please be aware that you may have prevented others from attending this event since there was a wait list. If you don't intend on going, for whatever reason, please do not RSVP "Yes". If something comes up that causes you not to be able to come, then please update your RSVP status, immediately. If you have questions about the process then please email the event host. This Meetup page works best if we all cooperate and if we are all considerate of others.

For those on the wait list, I have an idea: You could still come to Davanni's and meet together in the main dining area of the restaurant. It's not that busy at 6:30/7:00pm so a smaller group could discuss the book there while the others on the "attending" list can meet in the Party Room. If there are no shows, or an extra 1-2 people, we can make room for others in the Party Room.

If you cannot make it to the book discussion on 1/9 please change your RSVP so those on the wait list can join. I'm looking forward to the discussion. Thanks!
