For October, we'll be reading Mark Millar's SUPERMAN: RED SON, which imagines that baby Kal-El's spaceship lands not in Kansas, but in Soviet Russia where he is "adopted" by the man of steel himself, Stalin!

Hey, sorry I missed the group. I was really looking forward to it but a work thing came up. I hope it went well. I enjoyed "Red Son," although I suppose it had some obvious flaws, such as paying short shrift to some pretty weighty topics. But then again it was only 3 issues. It did kind of bug me that he wanted to make a better world and yet seemed oblivious to the atrocities occurring right under his nose (such as when Pyotr related to him how he'd gunned down unarmed citizens and wounded a defiant child). I also felt that, as with the regular continuity Superman, his most significant influence was his parents, but they were barely even mentioned. Clearly, Stalin never created a true communist state (has there even been one?) but in his way this Superman tried to, and relatively successfully, which I would attribute to how he was raised by some of goodhearted peasants, rather than any effect someone like Stalin might have had over him. Anyway, I'll try to make next month!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
