Although Prana has many meanings, in this context it refers to the life force. Pranayama means the flow of life force that can be regulated through simple breathing exercises.
A proper flow of Prana (life force) not only re-vitalizes the physiological functions of the body, but also leads to a calmer mind.
It further helps creating resilience and joy, and an ability to meet the challenges of the modern life in a calm and serene manner.
