Mobile Learning - March 2013

  • Mar 14, 2013 · 6:45 PM
  • 1-6 Speedy Place, off Cromer Street

Hi all,

We have now scheduled the agenda for this month's MLMeetup.

We are thrilled to have a brilliant line of speakers:

Speaker Slot 1 Steinunn Anna Gunnlaugsdóttir is a teacher and co-founder of the technology company Locatify based in Iceland. Locatify has created a platform for designing and publishing treasure hunt games to be enjoyed via Smartphones on location using GPS, 3G and maps.  The games are competitive and played by teams in real time. The games involve problem solving, exploration, and collecting evidence, finding treasures, playing mini-games and using virtual game items in game mechanics. Steinunn will discuss how TurfHunt can be used for learning at her prerecorded presentation "Treasure Hunt via  Smartphones - Active Learning" and she will be available for the intro and questions on Skype.

Speaker Slot 2 Mark Szulyovszky is a designer and co-founder of a startup (PlanB Labs) that is currently developing an innovative language learning application for iOS. The core idea is to let you play with the new foreign word - while not stealing your attention with shiny game elements. The goal is to redesign the whole vocabulary learning process by applying a bunch unconventional, but effective techniques: to make your brain work without you noticing it

Speaker Slot 3 Rajal Pitroda is the founder of Gametastic, a learning platform to teach girls about programming, design and storytelling through gaming. Rajal is currently an MBA student at London Business School. Prior to LBS, Rajal started a company in marketing and distribution for independent films. She will be talking aboutthe process of identifying customer needs and catering to them in the product development process, as well as her vision in creating a game targeted at girls.
