Mobile Learning - 16 May 2013

  • May 16, 2013 · 6:45 PM
  • 1-6 Speedy Place, off Cromer Street

Hi all,

After a busy April we are back this month and have just launched the Mobile Learning Month for June 2013 with a series of events and workshops. Have a look here and start thinking what will you do for Mobile Learning Month?

For May's Meetup, we are very excited to have an insight into future mobile UX trends from MEX's founder Marek Pawlowski as well as the pedagogy challenges of mLearning by Joanna Norton, the founder of Keywords English.

Speaker 1: Marek Pawlowski has founded MEX, an initiative which makes digital products easier to use.  MEX helps digital industry to understand user behaviour and technology through events, research and consulting. Marek has been an advisor on technology to media and boards since 1995. Marek will run an interactive session on the technology and behavior trends that MEX team have been exploring at the recent MEX conference.

Speaker 2: Joanna Norton is the founder of Keywords English, an app to support young people with the academic language of school. Joanna is both an educator and teacher-educator with deep domain expertise of teaching in today’s super-diverse, multi-lingual learning environments. Her work in the area of content development focuses on differentiation and on harnessing technology to create an inclusive learning experience for all.  She will present "Pedagogy is king!" where she will discuss the importance of instructional design in developing mLearning content. She will argue that the success of mLearning will be determined by the number of skilled educators at the decision making table.  Without them, mLearning faces a similar fate as other technological initiatives that have preceded it.

If you wish to present your current development in educational apps and mobile learning at future MLMs please let me know ASAP by e-mailing [masked]

The MLM* is a monthly networking event in central London that offers all interested in mobile learning the chance to discuss mobile trends and developments in educationapplication developmenteducational games and a community of experts over some food and drink.

We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday 16th of May.
