Pro Model Workshop - Multi Photo Group - GNO Area

In an effort to put together a workshop that will benefit a broad range of emerging and also mid-career photographers, several Meetup groups are teaming up for the High Fashion - Swimwear - Glamour New Orleans Shoot Out. Jeff Teachworth and Tommy Morgan will be supervising, while seasoned model Michelle Reagan will be providing the dynamic poses, modeling expertise, and fashion designs from her line TrenDevian as well as her haute couture and international wardrobe collection including Japanese traditional wear and German high fashion.

With a background in modeling, photography, and assisting in haute couture houses, Michelle will be putting together an opportunity that promises to completely overhaul or at least add that jaw-dropping professional touch to your current portfolio. Michelle holds a bachelor of fine arts degree with a concentration in photography, from Louisiana State University. She has shown her work in national photography shows, so not only can she answer questions you may have during the shooting process, she can react to various lighting situations with fluid precision. In addition, Michelle has modeled during the last two years for several workshops including the Rhode Island based Studio Without Walls with RISD professor John Hames (2012) and Popular Photography and American Photo Magazine: Mentor Series Workshop (Metairie 2010).

The two-hour session will begin with a short lighting demonstration and a brief introduction to choosing and communicating with models and stylists in the photography industry.

Then the photographers will get a chance to shoot Michelle in two different sets, high fashion and lingerie. The first set will be high fashion with an editorial concept (feel free to bring additional unusual props and these may be incorporated into the storyline to the best of Michelle's ability). Hair will be professionally styled for this portion of the shoot by Aveda, and Michelle will do her makeup utilizing her expertise gained over the last 5 years. A studio set will be set up prior to the shoot for this set. This portion of the workshop will last 30 minutes and if enough photographers are present, we will try to have additional models so that no more than six photographers will be shooting together at a time. There will be a 15-minute break and a chance to discuss questions that may have arisen during the first set with the hosts and featured models. If time permits, Michelle will dress in swimwear from the Nicolita line (featured at Miami fashion week) or her line TrenDevian, and photographers will have the opportunity to work with sheen (oil) on the skin and water droplets to maximum effect, and there will be a simulated snowflake effect..

After a quick wardrobe change, we will shoot glamour lingerie with a bit of New Orleans flair including garter belts, thigh highs, and heels. This set will focus around a chaise lounge or bed. The setup will seek to provide an ideal environment to get the best angles available. Opportunity will be available to book a session after the shoot to shoot one-on-one with the model of your choice at the studio. Some models will be available for implied topless for this portion of the shoot if it fits the concept involved in the shoot. Michelle will have three additional looks to choose from for the one-on-one.

Additional models’ portfolios may be posted as more photographers (over six) sign up.

Cost: $25.00 per person (cash or credit card if paying at the door), primarily to pay the model(s). Please bring camera, multiple lenses including basic and macro if available, and any other tools such as off camera flash and tripod, etc. Some lighting will be available and already set up for the group sets. Print portfolios and business cards are also strongly recommended. Because this is a minimal cost shoot workshop, photographers are encouraged to share as many images as they like with the models for their portfolios, and we’d like you to post at least a couple images from each look on the Meetup website.

If you have any questions, or would like to see a resume, please drop Michelle a line -[masked] or on her Model Mayhem site.

Ok, I finally got my pictures up. Sorry about the delay! I did not have that many since my flash was not up to par, mostly just variations of edits of the pics I have posted. Any comments or constructive criticism welcome. Thanks!!

Would this be appropriate for beginners?

Of course. This is more about how to get the best from your model photography.

We're keeping the ratio of photographers to models fairly low and offering demonstrations at the beginning so I believe this is appropriate for anyone from beginner to intermediate/advanced as the models involved are very skilled and able to match almost any direction. You do need a camera and familiarity with your camera's basic abilities i.e. walk down canal street and snap some documentary/ street photography etc. once before the workshop if possible to become familiar with working with a live model. Jeff could give you more tips.

More photographers than models, Deanna. Michelle is presenting this workshop, leading the photographers through the model's point of view, and as a fashion designer, sharing her photo shoot experience through her posing and the overall photo session.

Stacy, you'll be fine. The setting on your camera for flash will be a setting that we will easily determine.

It is... How have you been, Krystal? I still remember how interesting your presentation on makeup artistry was at one of our past meetups.
