I love talking about sexuality! How is it we've come to this point, what thoughts lead us to sexual aggression, how can we move past sexual shame, how can we best support each other? Over the years, so many people have talked to me privately about their fears around sexuality. It left me feeling sad that these people didn't feel they had anyone close to them in their life they could talk to. I think if we'd all be better off if we had more people in our personal lives we could connect with. Especially about "embarrassing" subjects. I always thought Seattle was far more enlightened than my Midwest/Southern background.. but surprisingly there is still quite a bit of shame.
I think a healthy conversation and safe space is what people need. We have it online but I feel we need more face to face groups. We have excellent sex clubs and swinging scene but I don't feel there are enough places to just talk (but if I've missed something, please let me know!) :)
I'm a writer, anti-rape culture activist and public speaker (and samba dancer!). I've always been interested in the root of thought of perceptions and beliefs. I've never gotten my fill (doubt I will) :) Welcome!
Is it okay for the host to rate the event? :D Not sure if it is but it was AWESOME! We all had such a blast and I was pleasantly.. surprised? I don't know. I can't say surprised really but so glad we all had great conversation. In addition to seeing an artsy, funny strip show together, we touched on so many topics! I learned a ton from guests and performers. It is definitely something I want to do again. :)
