Are you the mom who doesn’t fit in to all the other mom’s groups?
Have you found yourself trapped in the Texas suburbs with a tiny person (or persons) who you love more than anything but your neighbor has a Sarah Palin sign in their yard and it makes no sense?
Do you want to find like minded friends to talk to about being a mom but also about politics, terrible reality television, books, movies, US Weekly and what cute things are at Target right now?
Are you new to being a mom or new to staying at home after kicking ass at work? Are you <gasp> over 30?
Or are you just looking for a different group of people for interesting conversation/fun activities for the kiddos? Are you progressive, open minded, liberal, sarcastic and/or hilarious?
I get along with all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds but full disclosure (this isn’t Austin, after all): I love Jon Stewart and NPR. I try (and fail) to be a vegetarian. I don’t go to Chick Fil-A anymore. The church I believe in is “don’t be a jerk.” If this makes you gag, this probably isn’t your scene.
If you’re still reading this my husband owes me 20 bucks, because you DO exist and this is the group for you.
Modern Moms, Badass Babies (MMBB) activities include playdates, field trips for the wee ones and nights out for us. This group is mostly geared towards SAHMs with younger babes (infant - preschoolers) but there will be a few weeknight/weekend events.
Activities will generally happen in the Colleyville/Southlake/Keller/Grapevine/Mid-Cities area with trips to Fort Worth and Dallas. We also have several active moms who live in Arlington where we also have occasional playdates and park meetups.
Note we love you first time pregnant moms who are so on top of it that you're looking for friends before that baby even pops out (seriously) but we ask you hold off applying until your badass baby has officially arrived.
Jen and I keep the group on the small side - an active group is a rad group. We ask that you attend an event every month. Please be sure to have an updated profile pic (preferably with you and your badass baby (or babies).
Finally, since we do keep the group under 50, we unfortunately aren’t always able to accept everyone who is interested. I know it can be difficult to wrestle the iPhone away from the toddler, but we recommend you spend a few minutes and be thoughtful in answering the group application questions. We review admission requests every other month (so it might take us a bit to respond).
