For far too long, book clubs have been formed to mimic other book clubs. They've all seemed to be exactly the same- long, boring conversations about books that half the members don't read anyway. Enough is Enough.
This is an original group geared toward those who enjoy celebrating unique ideas and authors. It's a group for women who love reading enticing, fascinating, alluring material but don't always have the time to read one book per week/month and don't deserve to feel guilty for not "keeping up" with the reading timeline. In this group, there will be NO long, dreary conversations about the characters and the plot. You will never feel like you're sitting in an Intro to Literature class.
Instead, we'll connect the reading material to true-life issues including: stress, family, single life, sexuality, ambition and personal desires. We will cover novels/articles/short stories/memoirs over an extended period of time in order to give each member an opportunity to feel included at each meet-up.
This group is being designed with an all-inclusive foundation. Meaning stereotypes, prejudices, and hang ups must be left at the door. All women are welcome. The more diverse the group is-the better. With that stated, if you have an open mind and will be willing to cover material that challenges gender roles, society's norms, and racial barriers...join immediately.
We are expanding our book club to also include social activities such as dinners, movies, get togethers in the community, etc. So if you have any ideas or have been wanting to check out a new place with a group of friends send me an email!
Welcome.
Hello Ladies!
During this part we will be finishing up our discussion on The Love of Her Life. If you missed the first session don't worry about it! We would still love to see you for the second half of our discussion.
We will also be choosing our next book so come prepared with suggestions and input!
See you then!
This group doesn't have any additional upcoming Meetups scheduled.
