June Meetup - Development Environment Throwdown

Okay, it is on now. At our last meetup we decided to talk about development environments and have a throw down. The rules are like survivor, one person's environment will be voted off by the meetup group each round. Make your arguments why yours is the best environment and then take your lumps. It is going to be fun and I am sure we are all going to learn a lot!

I created a Github pages site for this meetup so we could put all the links up somewhere: http://mslm.github.io/

Please please feel free to make changes or add anything you want. I'll be revising and editing as I have time, but it needs everybody's input :)

Hey everyone. I am going to make a final decision on the date/time for this meetup sometime on Friday 5/23 so if you have not voted yet on that issue get over to http://doodle.com/qhtb4ub62k36vwie and voice your opinion.

Not directly related to this meet up, but James Moore and I will be driving up to the Sonora Meetup Tonight. We will be leaving from my place in north Modesto if any one wants to hitch a ride. You can get ahold of me here.... neil.holcomb AT symphosize dot com http://www.meetup.com/The-Sonora-Software-Developers-Group/events/179825952/

Also if we don't come up with a better in door location for our IDE throw down, I would be glad offer up my Patio...its huge, East facing ( So no sun beeting down on us in the earning ), with fans and misters so despite the June heat it should be a nice place to meet. Just offering it up in case nothing better comes along.

Neil, I think we may take you up on this as a trial run. Inside is always better but hard to find. Can you email me your address (geektech2000 at gmail.com) so I can add that to the meetup.

Hey guys, make sure you all go to the doodle.com URL in the description of this event so you can help us pick a date for the next event. Going to set it in about a week so people know what to plan for.

Also, so you can prep and think this stuff through here is a brief list of some of the IDEs (stated loosely in some cases) people may be sporting.

    Netbeans:
"An IDE for quickly and easily develop desktop, mobile and web applications
with Java, HTML5, PHP, C/C++ and more"
    https://netbeans.org/

    PHPStorm:
    PHP IDE
    http://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/

    Coda:
    Web Development IDE
    https://panic.com/coda/

    Sublime Text:
"A sophisticated text editor for code, markup and prose."
    http://www.sublimetext.com/

    Vi:
"A screen-oriented text editor originally for Unix"
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vi

    VIM:
    "VI IMproved"
