Winter is coming, but don't let that get you down! Come explore some amazing mines around the Dugway range!
We will be meeting up at Kellys Hole [masked]° [masked]°) around 12PM, but feel free to show up any time before or after that on Saturday. On Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning we will be looking at some of the interesting mines in the area, including the four metals mine and the Bertha mine, and discussing the history of the area. There are lots of opportunities for hiking and exploring for all experience levels.around a lot of the area. Expect a fairly rocky ride up to the Bertha mine. If you do not have 4X4 and need to carpool there will likely be a seat available.
Please arrange your own ride up to the camping spot. If you have any additional questions about getting up the canyon please post them in the comments section of this meetup.
Be aware that it WILL GET COLD up there. Please be prepared for very cold weather and possibly rain/snow.
Please bring your own safety gear! - This includes a helmet / hardhat, trustworthy light source, extra batteries, spare water, and a backup light. Those without full safety gear will NOT be permitted to enter the mines, no exceptions. A trained individual will be inspecting you for safety gear before entering the mines. If you are interested in exploring the several vertical shafts, you WILL need a harness and all necessary SRT gear.
Other mines in the area will be explorable with basic gear. Coveralls are a must for those who wish to remain somewhat clean. The mines up there are very dirty, and we'll be getting dirty for sure. Knee pads are also recommended for crawling through some areas.
Tent or other shelter to protect from wind and bitterly cold nights
Food for dinner/snacks Jacket and cold weather wear
Helmet with lights

You must be 18 years of age or older in order to participate.
