To all the parents, parents-to-be, adoptive parents, friends and extended family, caregivers, and educators of children wanting to explore various aspects of gentle parenting, this group is for you.
We are here to: discover, discuss, support, and enjoy each other's company; help build, strengthen, and affirm the inherent positive nature of the child's home environment; be open-minded, honest, sensitive, and non-judgmental of the various parenting techniques; help develop a wide, secure network of connections and tools you and your child can use for a variety of topics in life; encourage you to listen to your own instincts, be an active participant in your children's lives, and develop a positive, fun community for the benefit of all our children.
Some popular topics at meetup events are: thoughtful preparation for parenthood, peacefully coexisting with friends and family who are actively opposed to your chosen style of parenting, professionally educating children using gentle parenting concepts, fathers as parenting partners, pregnancy, birthing options, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, child-led weaning, baby wearing, co-sleeping, building a relationship with one’s child based on trust and respect, positive/gentle discipline, cloth diapering, elimination communication, child-led potty learning, educational choices, holistic health and organic/whole food, green/sustainable living, and although we are not an affiliated group, the Eight Principles of Parenting, copyright of Attachment Parenting International (API). There are several more topics to list, but I hope you get the idea that we are focusing on a broader perspective of bringing up children, and not just narrowly zeroing in on parenting alone.
We plan to have small and large group play dates, get-togethers, potlucks, events, classes, field trips and caravans, and a plethora of activities for all members. Please consider attending, and feel free to suggest a meetup or contact an Organizer with your ideas to help make Gentle Parenting of the Triangle the best group it can be!
