June meet up: Where'd You Go, Bernadette: A Novel

Our May meet up was so fun! We got to take home sparkely rings:) We did have a few no-shows though:( Please remember to update your rsvp. It's really appreciated.

For June we are going to try something different. Lisa knows of a pizza place with NO corkage fee!!! woohoo! So we will order pizza, sip wine, and discuss the book (among other things;0)). Everyone bring $5 to chip in for pizza and a bottle of wine (if you wish to partake) and we will have a mom happy hour:) Here is the synopsis of the book:

Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle--and people in general--has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands. A trip to the end of the earth is problematic.

To find her mother, Bee compiles email messages, official documents, secret correspondence--creating a compulsively readable and touching novel about misplaced genius and a mother and daughter's role in an absurd world.

This was a fun evening chatting about the book and discussing how it reflected in our lives. Great group of ladies willing to share. Thank you! :~)

I'm so bummed to have to miss this month! My daughter is playing in a softball tournament this weekend and (of course) her first game is Friday night. Have fun ladies! Hope to see you all next month!
