Who we are:
Elizabeth and Dawn co-founded Moms Like Us in March 2013, realizing that as mothers of special needs children, they craved the support and resources that only other mothers in their situation could provide. They found few support groups of this kind in the area, so they created their own.
What we do:
Moms Like Us was created as a support group for mothers of special needs children (with any diagnosis) to gather once a month to discuss their issues and concerns in a neutral and non-judgmental place. We also use the meetings as an opportunity to share resources. Additionally, we have a secret Moms Like Us Facebook page (that can be joined by request) where members can communicate anytime.
We are exclusively open to any moms of special needs kids (of all ages and all diagnoses). We are specifically for parent-to-parent support, only. We are not promoting a specific point of view, nor are we promoting any business or professional agendas. Further membership questions can be directed to the organizers of this group.
When and where we meet:
Meetings are held on the first Friday of each month at 10 am at the Coffee Table Bistro in Eagle Rock. Both Elizabeth and Dawn usually attend all meetings, however there are times when one cannot attend but the other one will be there to provide leadership and continuity. If members cannot make regularly scheduled meetings, they can stay in touch on our Facebook page. If you are interested in being invited to join our private MLU Facebook page, you must first join this Meetup group. Once you are a member, please email the organizer and let her know you want to also be invited to join the FB page.
